Easley High presents ‘Bye Bye Birdie’
EASLEY — Easley High School will present “Bye Bye Birdie” this Friday and Saturday and next Thursday-Saturday at 7:30 p.m. at W.M Scott Auditorium.
“Bye Bye Birdie,” one of the most captivating musicals of all time, is the story of 1950s rock and roll singer Conrad Birdie (Brad Dail) who has been drafted into the army. Conrad’s agent, Albert Peterson (Nic Barhart), and Albert’s faithful secretary and love interest, Rose Alvarez (Katy Hiott), devise a final publicity plan before Conrad’s induction.
Spring into fitness!
Spring is synonymous with awakening, rebirth, and renewal. After a long, cold, dreary winter, the days of spring bring with them warming sunshine, longer days, blossoming flowers and a general sense of optimism and the good things that are surely to come.
Rabid with spring fever, people are anxious to be outside — to drink in the delights of the world waking up around them. Blessed with beautiful, breathtaking geography, Pickens County has endless opportunities for its residents to enjoy all the out-of-doors has to offer. What better way to behold spring than by walking, running or cycling through it as it unfolds?
The next few months are abundant with opportunities to participate in fitness-related events that not only get people moving and enjoying the outdoors, but also contribute to a variety of community organizations that serve Pickens County. Whatever their sport preference, there is an activity designed and organized to piqué a variety of interests.
Go southwest for supper
I went to Sante Fe last week and fell in love with the art and the food.
All the recipes this week were gathered from the trip thanks to Leslie, our waitress at the Anasazi Restaurant, who got some of the information from their chef and Pam, our waitress at the Ore, for the information about the salad dressing and to Henry at the Villas De Santa Fe for sending us to a great Mexican restaurant for fry bread.
The food was excellent. We were surprised to see how different the flavors and selections were in New Mexico of Mexican dishes available at home.
And it isn’t all about the heat.
Yes, we had peppers in our hash browns, but the varieties of peppers, the amount of heat and the flavors apparently are limitless.
