Longtime Pickens physician Mauldin passes away at 80
PICKENS — A well-known Pickens physician and former chief of staff at Cannon Memorial Hospital died Saturday.
Dr. David Wayman Mauldin, 80, of Pickens, passed away Saturday, Feb. 25, at his home.

COUNTY — Danielle Yother impressed the on-stage judges at the Pickens County Has Talent finals Saturday night at Pickens High School.
“Go get the guitar, give it to her and let’s go home,” judge Ben LeCroy said.

School board gives nod to ‘Alive at 25’ program
COUNTY — During Monday’s called SDPC board meeting, adoption of the Alive at 25 Program passed in a 4-2 vote with trustees Ben Trotter and Jimmy Gillespie voting against the program.
Local woman convicted of taking Marine ex-husband’s death benefits
FLORENCE — A Pickens woman has been convicted of stealing more than $37,000 from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.
According to reports, Megan Mosteller, 26, was convicted last week in a federal trial held in Florence.
Pickens music festival to benefit Young Appalachian Musicians
PICKENS — Hagood Mill in Pickens will come alive with a huge music festival on Saturday, April 28. The annual POSAM Memorial Music Festival will bring an all-star cast of bluegrass and old time music performers to the stage; along with jam sessions, workshops, and youth competitions running throughout the day.
