Masked gunmen tie, beat elderly couple
PUMPKINTOWN — The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a home invasion in which two elderly victims were beaten and tied after two masked gunmen forced their way into their home early Monday morning.
Six Mile holds annual Issaqueena Festival

Man kills self after pursuit ends in crash
COUNTY — A man wanted on armed robbery charges in Greenville County shot and killed himself Tuesday after a police chase that ended in a crash near Liberty.
‘Turtles’ arrive in downtown Pickens
PICKENS — Pickens’ “Turtles on the Town” project is becoming a reality.
Last week, bronze turtles were installed at 11 locations around the downtown area.
New foundation will help abused, at-risk and special needs children
CENTRAL — An evening of live music, auction items and celebrities will highlight the inaugural event for the Every Day Foundation.
The EDF Launch Party will be held Friday, June 1, from 7-10 p.m. at Lighthouse Keowee, located at 1290 Doug Hollow Road in Seneca. A preparty reception for sponsors and upper tier ticket holders will be held from 6-7 p.m.

Memorial Day service scheduled for Monday
PICKENS — A ceremony to honor fallen veterans will be held at Sunrise Cemetary on E. Cedar Rock Street in Pickens at 10 a.m. next Monday.
The ceremony is sponsored by Pickens American Legion Post 11, the Knights of Columbus and other veterans organizations.
Guest speaker will be State Representative Davey Hiott, and the public is invited to come and show support for our veterans. Visitors can bring lawn chairs as well.
Following the ceremony, a reception will be held for all at American Legion Post 11 on Hagood Street.

EASLEY — Customers of The Peoples National Bank saw a new look earlier this week when they visited their bank.
Over the weekend, The Peoples National Bank (PNB) signs changed to South Carolina Bank and Trust (SCBT) as a result of the merger which was completed on April 24, 2012.
