LIBERTY — Senior quarterback Brandon Alexander rushed for five touchdowns and threw for another to lead the Liberty Red Devils to a 48-30 season-opening rout of AAA Travelers Rest.

The 48 points were the most scored by a Liberty team to open the season sine 2004, when the Red Devils defeated Dixie 45-0.

EASLEY — Sitting at 2-0 after a pair of wins over county rivals, including their third consecutive win over Daniel last Friday, the Easley Green Wave seem to be on a bit of a roll.

But coach Chad Smith isn’t ready to celebrate just yet.

“We love playing Daniel, because they are a well-coached team, and you’re going to have to earn anything you get from them,” Smith said. “But you look at our schedule, and there are lots of teams like that.”

EASLEY — Winning the turnover battle is crucial at all levels of football. More often than not, the team that turns the ball over the most times in any particular game is the team leaving the field with its heads bowed in defeat.
