Leadership Clemson now accepting applications
CLEMSON — The City of Clemson is now accepting applications for the Leadership Clemson Class of 2015.
Leadership Clemson is a series of six classes, scheduled to begin in January 2015 and continue through June 2015, meeting one day per month.
The classes offer a unique behind-the-scenes look into the Clemson community, including tours of local services and
World of Energy to host second Festival of Trees
UPSTATE — The World of Energy will host its second annual Festival of Trees beginning Nov. 24 and running through Jan. 3.
Nearly two dozen trees will be on display, decorated by local businesses and organizations for the public to view.
Tree viewing can take place Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m. at the World of Energy education center.
Visitors will also be asked to vote on their favorite tree and the winning tree will receive a $1,000 grant from Duke

Essie Lee Taylor
Liberty — Essie Lee Barrett Taylor, 95, of 211 West Main Street, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2014, at Manna Health and Rehab. Born in Six Mile she was the widow of James Leland Taylor and a daughter of the late Jake and Ola Madden Barrett. She was a homemaker and a member of Liberty First Baptist Church.
Surviving are a son, Jimmy Taylor of Liberty; two grandchildren, April Mahuen, and James Taylor.
She was the last survivor of her immediate family.
Graveside services to honor the life of Mrs. Taylor were at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hillcrest

COLUMBIA — Just days after staging an improbable late-match rally to capture the Class AAA Upper State championship, the Pickens Lady Blue Flame — one of two local teams playing for a State title on Saturday — left less doubt during their match against Hilton Head Island.
Pickens won 3-1 over the Seahawks to take its second consecutive Class AAA State crown at White Knoll High School.

Police: Sex offender tried to solicit minor
EASLEY — A convicted sex offender was arrested on multiple charges Sunday after police allege he sent text messages with photos of a young girl exposing her genitals and spoke sexually to what he thought was a 14-year-old girl.
Matthew Leon Arotin, 54, of 201 Barton St. in Easley, was charged with criminal solicitation of a minor, dissemination of obscene material and dissemination of obscene material to a person under 18.
