Mozelle K. Gilstrap
Liberty — Mozelle Katherine Burgess Gilstrap, 71, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at her home.
Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Clarence Spelling Burgess and Essie Howard Burgess. Mrs. Gilstrap was retired from Champion Aviation in Liberty.
Surviving are her children, Kim Mitchell (Tim) of Liberty, Karen Edgell (Dan) of Pickens and Clint Gilstrap of Liberty; four grandchildren, Holly Evans and Miranda Gilstrap both of Greenville, Cody Mitchell of Liberty and Danielle Edgell of Pickens; two step grandchildren, Travis Mitchell (Jennifer) and Sommer Brock (Matt); four step great grandchildren, Josh and Emma Mitchell and Guy and William Brock; a sister, Evelyn Grice of Pickens; and a brother, Gary Burgess of Pickens.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Ivory Burgess, and two sisters, Azilee Lander and Nathalee Reynolds.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 2 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Henry Holder
Easley — Henry Fant Holder, 93, of Parkway Drive, husband of the late Benice Hunter Holder, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Emeritus of Greenville.
Born in Pickens County on May 21, 1919 to the late Benjamin and Florence Fergerson Holder, Mr. Holder was formerly employed with the Pickens County School District and later retired from the Easley Post Office, where he was a rural letter carrier. He graduated from Easley High School and served four years in the U.S. Army as a supply Sergeant during World War II. During the war, Mr. Holder served in Puerto Rico, Idaho and other stateside locations prior to being stationed in India and Burma during the war effort. Mr. Holder married Benice Hunter on May 19, 1945. She passed away in 1992. Mr. Holder was an outstanding member of First Baptist Church, Easley, a member of Bates Masonic Lodge and was the oldest member of the Easley Lions Club.
He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Holder Carter, her husband, Ken, and their daughter, Kathleen, of Grove City, Pa., as well as his brother-in-laws and wife, Garvin and Carol Hunter, and sisters-in-law, Avenell Welborn and Frances Turner and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Holder was predeceased by twelve siblings.
Cryptside services, with military honors, were 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 5 in Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum with the Rev. Dr. John Adams officiating.

Kathyrine M. Jenson
Easley — Kathyrine Mutter Jenson, 84, widow of Leslie George Jenson, died May 25, 2012 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in France to the late William and Elizabeth Mutter, Mrs. Jenson was homemaker and of the Catholic faith.
Surviving is a daughter, Corliss J. Martin (Nelson), of Easley; seven grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Jenson was pre-deceased by a son, Leslie William Jenson; one sister, and 4 brothers.

Ruth Winchester Saad
Pickens — Ruth Winchester Saad, 93, of Pickens, died May 31, 2012.
Wife of the late Albert Saad and a daughter of the late Willoughby “Good” and June Abercrombie Winchester, Mrs. Saad was born Dec. 17, 1918 and grew up in the Mountain View community. She worked as a seamstress in Greenwood. After she and Al married in 1946, they moved to New York City, where they lived for over 30 years and hosted many family and friends. A lover of the outdoors, Mrs. Saad derived great joy from watching birds and learning about flowers. Mrs. Saad was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church and the Pickens Garden Club.
Surviving Mrs. Saad are sisters Rubye Mann and Bert Clark and brother Don Winchester and his wife Ann. She leaves a number of devoted nephews and nieces, including three nephews in New York. She also leaves many close friends, including Susie Brown.
She was predeceased by her sister Erelene Mann and brothers-in-law O.B. Mann, Milton Clark and Chub Mann.
Mrs. Saad’s committal service was held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 4 at Mountain View Baptist Church cemetery with a memorial service in the sanctuary at 11.

Rosalee R. Patterson
Pickens — Rosalee Roberts Patterson, 88, of 569 Allgood Bridge Road, wife of the late Tommy Joe Patterson, died Saturday, June 2, 2012.
Born in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Esther Baker Roberts. Mrs. Patterson was a 1941 graduate of Liberty High School and attended Draughon’s Business College. She retired from Singer Manufacturing and was a member of Pickens View Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are her children, Beverly Burgess (Jerrold) of Pickens and Sherwood Patterson (Evelyn) of Seneca; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; three sisters, Lucille Porter and Guynell Durham both of Easley and Bethel Childress of Greenville; and four brothers, Glen Roberts of Easley, James Roberts of Pendleton, Jess Roberts and Earl Roberts both of Greenville.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Rachel Posey and a brother, Claude Roberts.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 4 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Evelyn Kennemer
Pickens — Evelyn Finley Kennemer, 87, widow of Norman L. Kennemer of Pickens, died Sunday, June 3, 2012 at her home.
Mrs. Kennemer was born in Anderson County, a daughter of the late Albert and Floy Ferguson Finley. She was retired from the SC Department of Social Services and later from Clemson University Extension Service and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son David B. Kennemer and Susan and daughter Debbie Arledge and Eddie of Pickens, sister Emily Parsons and Cecil, and sister-in-law Helen Finley all of Pickens. Grandchildren include Cpl. Rutledge Kennemer, U.S.M.C. stationed in Hawaii, and Rhett Kennemer, Kaitlyn Kennemer and Brianna Kennemer all of Pickens. Great grandchildren include Logan James and Addyson Kennemer.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, June 7 at Grace United Methodist Church in Pickens with the Rev. Jimmy Dillard officiating. Burial will be prior to the service at 10:15 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor.

Martha Stansell
Liberty — Martha Nalley Stansell, 72, of 118 Alta Vista Court, passed on to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday June 3, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Seneca, she was the wife of Major Jackson “M.J.” Stansell Jr., of the home, and a daughter of the late Riley Franklin and Ruth Lesley Nalley. She attended both Erskine College and Clemson University earning a Master’s Degree. She was retired from the School District of Pickens County after teaching at Liberty High School for 38 years. She was an inspiration to all that knew her. She was an avid reader and loved to sing. She was a very active member of Liberty First Baptist Church where she and M.J. had attended for years.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Kay LeRoy(Sam) of Greenwood; two sons, Mike Stansell of Charleston and Brett Stansell(Angela) of Easley; a sister, Sara Nalley of Columbia; and seven grandchildren, Elyse LeRoy South(Mac), Philip and Abbey LeRoy, and Camryn, Emily, Connor and Riley Stansell.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Stansell will be held Thursday at Liberty First Baptist Church. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1 until 3 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Burial will be at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

Ray Hughes
Easley — Ray Hughes, 76, of 429 Zion School Road, died Monday, June 4, 2012 at his home.
Born in Oconee County, a son of the late J.B. and Minnie Wilson Hughes, Mr. Hughes was a retired business owner and was a member of Easley Church of God where he belonged to the Harmony Sunday School Class.
Surviving are his wife, Avis Loudermilk Hughes of the home; a son, Donny Hughes of Easley; a daughter, Debbie Hughes of Easley; a brother, Harold Hughes of Santa Fe, Texas; three sisters, Grace Nix of Salem, Ruth Sanders of Blenheim and Shirley Carter of Westminster; two grandchildren, Bridget Esuary and Christel Stewart; and four great-grandchildren, Ethan Esuary, Adrianna Esuary, Connor Stewart and Cydney Stewart.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hughes was predeceased by a daughter, Lisa Renee Hughes, three brothers, Lester Hughes, James Hughes and Junior Hughes, and by a sister, Wilma Hendrix Buchanan.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Easley Church of God. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown where the family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday and will be placed in the church at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Angela Farmer
Gray Court — Angela Farmer, age 66 of 117 Central St. and widow of Roy D. Farmer, Jr. died Sunday, June 3, 2012 in the Greenville Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Laurens County and was the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary Jane Boyter Douglas. Mrs. Farmer was retired from the Clinton Mills, Lydia Plant and was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Joanna and was the family’s Beloved Mema.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Hostetler of Gray Court and Rita Bunch of Easley; a son, Jerry Vaughn of Newberry; a brother, Son Boyter of Laurens; two sisters, Peggy Boyter and Bessie Boyter both of Clinton; nine grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a daughter, Bobbie Jo Davis.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Griffin Family Cemetery, 6119 Hwy. 66, Clinton.

Roger Dale Lesley, Sr.
Pickens — Roger Dale Lesley, Sr., 62, of Pickens died May 24, 2012 after a long battle with cancer. He was cremated.
Roger left behind a wife, Lynn Lesley of Georgia, a son, Roger Dale Lesley, Jr. (Jennifer), a granddaughter, Tori Jade Lesley of Liberty. In addition to two brothers, Leroy (Sherry) Lesley and James Lesley both of Pickens, three sisters, Pauline (Ron) Melton of Georgia, Dorothy Chism and Martha Snead both of Pickens. Several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Roger was predeceased by his parents, Roy and Pearl and his beloved companion, Trish.
A memorial service will be held at the home of James Lesley Saturday, June 9th at 1 p.m. 206 Betty Drive, Liberty.
Frances J. Youngblood
Pickens — Frances Jordan Youngblood, 71, of 718 S. Lewis Street, died peacefully, on Monday, June 4, 2012 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Anderson she was a daughter of the late John T. and Lois Pitts Jordan. Mrs. Youngblood was a registered nurse for many years, having worked at Cannon Memorial Hospital and later served as a consultant for Anderson & Pickens County Disabilities & Special Needs. After her retirement from nursing she served as a Volunteer Guardian Ad Litem in Pickens County for abused and neglected children.
Mrs. Youngblood attended Crowe Creek Church of God.
Surviving are her husband, John Ed Youngblood of the home; two daughters, Diana Stone and Kaye Golden both of Pickens; three sons, Alan K. Youngblood of Easley, John Mark Youngblood of Liberty, and Edward Luke Youngblood of Seneca; she is also survived by seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her only sister, Shirlene Gale Jordan, and a grandson, Jason Corey Stone.
Funeral services to celebrate the home going of Mrs. Youngblood will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 until 3 p.m. at the mortuary.

Joe J. Garren
Pickens — Joe Jackson Garren, 65, of Cove Creek Road, died Monday, May 28, 2012 in Flat Rock, NC following a lingering illness.
Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Clyde Chester Garren and Ethel Nabors Garren. Mr. Garren was employed with Brunswick Mills for 20 years and was a member of Midway Baptist Church.
Surviving is his wife of the home, Sylvia Meyer Garren; a son, Joe J. Garren, II (Kristi) of Pickens; a sister, Janice Owens (Robert) of Easley; and two brothers, Thomas G. Garren (Ann) of Pickens and Larry C. Garren of Pickens.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Ray Garren.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 31 at 12 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Easley — Mrs. Dorothy Patterson Hayes, 79, wife of the late James Aaron Hayes, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at her home.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Charlie Edward and Annie Young Patterson, Mrs. Hayes retired from Kent Manufacturing Co. and was a member of Midway Baptist Church. Dorothy loved to garden and had a passion for music.
Surviving are two sons, Stanley Hayes of Easley and Randall Hayes (Marie) of Liberty; two daughters, Kathy Collins (Earl) of Easley and Carolyn Rogers (Joe) of Ware Shoals; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Sue Rholetter
Greenville — Sue “Susie” Lewis Rholetter, of Blue Ridge Drive, died on Monday, May 28, 2012 at Alpha Health & Rehab.
Born in Fair Play she the widow of Bernice M. Rholetter and a daughter of the late DeWitt and Bertha Stancil Lewis. She worked many years as a beautician.
Surviving are two sons, Don Rholetter and his wife Nancy of Travelers Rest, and Mike Rholetter and his wife Margaret of Easley; a daughter, DeAnne Klein and her husband Jim of Phoenix, Ariz.; a sister, Bea Moore of Liberty; eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a son, Harry Rholetter, a brother, R.M. Fuller, and a great great grandson, Brandon Walters.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Rholetter were 11 a.m. Friday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was private.

Jeff Powell
Liberty — Jeffrey Scott “Jeff” Powell, 34, of Liberty died, Monday May 28, 2012.
Born in Greenville he was a son of the late Thomas Earl “Tommy” Powell. Jeff was a 1995 graduate of Liberty High School, and was an avid fisherman, deer hunter, and golfer. He owned and operated his own landscaping company for several years. He attended Rock Springs Baptist Church in Easley.
Surviving are his wife, Andrea Bagwell Powell of the home; a son, Jacob Powell of the home; a daughter, Brantley Powell of the home; his mother and step father, Joyce and Don Porter of Pendleton; a brother, Jason Powell of Norris; his step mother, Debra Powell of Liberty; grandparents, Frances Powell of Norris, Edith Durham of Pendleton, Helen Porter of Seneca; a step brother, Chris Campbell of Williamston; a step sister, Trudi Winstead of Tamassee; his father and mother in law, Larry and Susan Bagwell of Liberty; a sister in law, Kristi Harris of Liberty.
In addition to his father he was predeceased by three grandparents, Cub Powell, Thomas Durham, and Seymour Porter.
Funeral services to honor Jeff’s life were 3 p.m. Thursday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

JD Howe
Norris — JD Howe, 77, of Norris, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at Anderson Area Medical Center.
Born in Norris he was the widower of Eula Mae Howe and a son of the late Raymond and Myrtie Adcox Howe.
Surviving are a sister in law, Patricia Howe of Anderson; a niece, Shannon Dwozan and her husband Gregg of Anderson; his mother in law, Mamie Lee Dorsey of Norris; a son in law, Jeff Kelley and his wife Cindy of Six Mile; a granddaughter, Lauren Kelley of Six Mile.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a daughter, Sherry Howe Kelley, and a brother, Ken Howe.
Graveside services for Mr. Howe were 3 p.m. Friday at Liberty Memorial Gardens.
