Merck Mountain Spring Jam set for next weekend in Central

CENTRAL — For the fourth year in a row, brother and sister team, Mark and Sheila Merck have brought together their love of music and community with the Merck Mountain Spring Jam 2017, presented by KOOLFLIX.

‘Old’ Six Mile Elementary School reunion planned
SIX MILE — If you or anyone you know attended the “old” Six Mile Elementary School that was in operation from 1955 until the 1980s, a reunion celebration of students and faculty is being planned.
The old school building is now abandoned and holds only memories, but a group now wants to reunite all the students and faculty who ever attended the school.
On Saturday, May 6, from noon until 4 p.m., the community center beside Town Hall in downtown Six Mile will be open for the gathering.
Those interested are asked to come and bring stories and any memorabilia they may have. No meal is planned, but snacks will be available.

Cannon Memorial Auxiliary planning event to celebrate 50 years
PICKENS — Cannon Memorial Auxiliary is looking for former members of the auxiliary to attend the 50th anniversary celebration from 4:30-6:30 p.m. May 11.
WYFF personality Brennan McDavid will emcee the 50th anniversary celebration at AnMed Health Cannon. Former volunteers are asked to help celebrate 50 years of service to AnMed Health Cannon.

Harden Scholarship apps now available
PICKENS — For the 21st year, the Cannon Memorial Hospital Auxiliary is offering a scholarship to a graduating high school senior and/or a member of the community already in the medical profession, or someone who is continuing their education in the medical field.
The recipients will have their scholarship money paid directly to the school of their choice.

Adult coed volleyball leagues now forming
PICKENS — The Pickens Recreation Department is now holding registration for adult coed volleyball.
Players must be 21 years old.
The registration fee will be $45 in-city and $55 out-of-city per couple and due at time of sign-up. Individual fees are $22.50 for in-city residents and $27.50 for out-of-city
