Police: Mother killed 2 children, woman

EASLEY — A murder-suicide spanned two counties and took the lives of four people, including two children, last week.
On Thursday afternoon, Greenville City police officers discovered the body of a woman in a vehicle in a parking garage at the Main + Stone apartment complex, according to a release from the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.

Officials tout trail’s economic potential at groundbreaking for Doodle Park

PICKENS — Since the opening of the Doodle Trail, local residents and visitors have 
been using the trail for exercise and recreation.
A new destination on the Pickens side of the trail will give users a place to relax and play.

Coroner names woman killed

EASLEY — The Pickens County Coroner has released the name of the Easley woman killed in a house fire this month.
Coroner Kandy Kelley said Linda Carol Everard, 60, was pronounced dead at the scene of the fire.

Clemson University tuition on the rise again

CLEMSON — AnMed Health Cannon recently welcomed Dr. Kimberly R. Ostrowski and the AnMed Health Cannon Medicus ENT to their physician network.

It was a bitter pill to swallow
Our Chihuahua, Toby Lee Fowler, is a piece of work. He is disobedient, headstrong, high-strung and a light sleeper. He is also one of the smartest and most manipulative dogs on the place.
It has always been a challenge to get him to swallow any kind of pill. At least that’s what I always thought until Boomer, our boxer puppy, contracted a mysterious illness. It was an inflammatory condition. Our vet prescribed prednisone in tablet form, and it took care of the problem. Every morning, I’d wrap the pill up in a small piece of American cheese, the slice kind, and give it to him. He’d gobble it right up.

New scam targets your home security system
If you have a home security system — and especially if you have signs in the yard or stickers on the door that say so — you could become the victim of a scam.
Here’s how it works: Scammers will spot your security warning signs and show up at 
your door. (In many cases these will be college students hired for the summer.) They’ll say that your security company has gone out of business and that you need to sign a contract for new service with their company. They’ll ask you to give personal information as part of signing up for the new service, but any equipment they give you will be fake.
If this happens to you, don’t rush to sign up. There are steps you need to take first.
