Foothills Electronics now open
On June 26, the Greater Pickens Chamber Commerce celebrated the grand opening for its newest member, Foothills Electronics, with a ribbon cutting. Owners Scott and April Nabors plan to offer a variety of services, including cellphone repair, security systems, TVs, electronics repair and much more. Foothills Electronics is located at 2700 Gentry Memorial Highway in Pickens. Hours are 9 a.m.-7 p.m., and the new store can be reached at (864) 507-0456.
Holly Springs Center offers lots to learn this summer
PICKENS — Located in the former Holly Springs Elementary School, the Holly Springs Center has had a very full summer, hosting Youth Arts Camp on Wednesdays, Youth Nature/Gardening Camp on Fridays, Camp IRock field trips, and now a week-long STEAM Camp.

Concert and art class set for community center

Bruce Farmer
Easley — Bruce Thompson Farmer, 77, of 114 Shallowford Road, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017.
Born in Greenville, he was the husband of Linda Donald Farmer and the son of the late Nathan Ovander and Frances Hanks Farmer. He was a retired electrician from Huntington and Guerry and was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Sherri Owen (Tony) and Lavada

Easley gearing up for first shot at Senior League World Series
Although 2017 will mark the 17th consecutive year the city of Easley will play host to dozens of the best youth baseball players on Earth battling for the title of world series champion, the city will have more representation than ever before in the tournament.
After 16 years of hosting Little League International’s Big League World Series and some of the world’s best 15-18-year-old players, Easley has instead taken over host duties this year for the Senior League Baseball World Series, which will bring teams of players ages 13-16 from around the world to converge on the J.B. “Red” Owens Complex from July 29-Aug. 5.
And with the change in age range comes a change in the host team.

Registration for YMCA fall soccer open until Aug. 10
PICKENS — YMCA officials believe children need to be a part of something bigger than themselves to help strengthen values, sportsmanship, leadership skills and the importance of relationship building and diversity.
The YMCA soccer program allows children to actively develop individually through healthy competition in a positive and encouraging environment.

Fall volleyball, soccer signups open at Pickens Recreation
PICKENS — Fall soccer and volleyball signups are open now through July 21 at the Pickens Recreation Department.
For soccer, coed age divisions are 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-15.
Depending on the sizes of the 11-12 and 13-15 divisions, teams may travel greater distances, such as to Seneca and Walhalla.
