Thousands left without power as storm’s winds, rain wreak havoc

COUNTY — After a night of heavy wind and rain from Tropical Storm Irma Monday evening left thousands without power, residents are encouraged to use caution and keep themselves safe.

Officers hit by car

EASLEY — Two Easley Police officers and a Pickens County Sheriff’s Office deputy were injured when they were hit by a car last week.
According to a release from the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred just before 10 p.m. Sept. 7 on U.S. Highway 123 near Ross Avenue.

County council sets millage for 2017-18

Flame volleyball off to hot start
PICKENS — The Pickens High School Blue Flame volleyball program has been a traditional power in the state.

Cannon honors Hedden
Pickens — AnMed Health Cannon recently recognized A.J. Hedden as its top employee of the second quarter.
Hedden joined AnMed Health Cannon in 2015 as an engineering technician.
Prior to becoming part of the AHC team, he worked as an electrician and maintenance tech at Electrictech, Systems Specialties, Walgreens Distribution and DZ Atlantic Group. Hedden graduated from Tri-County Technical College in 2008 with an associate’s degree in industrial maintenance.
Hedden has been with AHC only two years, but his co-workers recognized him as a major asset to the hospital. The AnMed Health Cannon selection committee, comprised of Hedden’s peers, chose Hedden based on his demonstration of the qualities of hard work, dedication and teamwork.
