Come have Cookie with Santa in Norris
NORRIS — Are you ready to meet the Jolley old elf himself and let your children tell him what they want this Christmas? If the answer is yes the Norris Community building will be the place to be as Santa Claus himself will be there on Dec. 9 to enjoy cookie with all the kids.
Santa will take time out of his busy schedule to come to the event to see all the area boys and girls from 10 a.m. – 12 noon. Parents are encouraged to bring a camera or cell phone to take a picture.

Cannon Auxiliary to host holiday bazaar
PICKENS — Cannon Memorial Hospital Auxiliary volunteers will offer local residents the chance to shop for local handmade crafts and food items at the annual Winterfest holiday bazaar from 7 a.m.-5 p.m. this Thursday, Nov. 30.

Come visit Holly Springs Saturday
We’re excited about Saturday’s opening of the Birchwood Artisan Gallery at the Holly Springs Center. The grand opening of the gallery will be in March, but Saturday the gallery will be introduced to the public at the Holly Springs Craft Fare from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
The gallery will offer fine arts and crafts for sale to the public. It’s designed to be a regional marketplace for artists and craftsmen of traditional and contemporary arts of this region.

Anxiety about the holidays
Bonnie: Mom used to be the hub for our holiday dinners. She loved visiting with all her relatives, and we, too, enjoyed the experience. There were never too many guests for her, even as the family grew. Now, with Alzheimer’s disease, she is no longer capable of entertaining. PICKENS — Robert Eugene Abercrombie, 85, husband of Pauline Roper Abercrombie, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Nov. 23, 2017.
Gene was born in Six Mile, a son of the late Robert Harrison and Cora Lee Thompkins Abercrombie. He was retired from Ryobi Motor Products in Pickens as maintenance

Hagood 2nd-graders tour city of Pickens
On Tuesday, Nov. 14, second-grade students in the classes of Mrs. Tammie Alexander, Mrs. Amy Breazeale, Mrs. Megan Jackson and Mrs. Tracey Lance at Hagood Elementary took part in a walking tour of Pickens to conclude their social studies unit on community. The students took part in a mock trial and learned about how courts uphold laws at the Pickens County Courthouse, with help from Circuit Court Judge Perry Gravely, Family Court Judge Tarita Dunbar and the Solicitor’s Office. After that, they enjoyed lunch at The Gatehouse restaurant and had tours of the Pickens Post Office, Pickens Fire Department, City Hall and Bivens Hardware. Students met many people who help make Pickens a great place to live, work and learn.
Pickens Ministerial Association wants to share warmth and love this holiday season
PICKENS — It’s that that time again for Winter Warmth 2017.
The event will again provide free winter clothes for everyone this year, including coats, jeans, sweaters, baby clothes, shoes and T-shirts in all sizes.
