‘Christmas on the Lawn’ comes to First Baptist
PICKENS — This Sunday, Dec. 10, Pickens First Baptist Church will host Christmas on the Lawn. The event will be a free evening of family fun.
Beginning at 4:30 p.m., guests can enjoy outdoor activities on the front lawn like live music, a trackless train, Christmas karaoke, a child-sized ferris wheel, an interactive nativity photo booth, hot chocolate and more.
At 5, 6, 7 and 8 p.m., free pizza will be served during the brief Christmas presentation in the Fellowship Hall.
Seating is free, but requires a ticket (available that evening at the door). There will also be a free drawing for a decorated Christmas tree. Call (864) 878-6564 for more information.

SDPC partners with Clearview Simpson Heritage Foundation
EASLEY — The School District of Pickens County has announced a new partnership with the Clearview Simpson Heritage Foundation to serve the Easley community.
The district plans to transfer the property at 304 West D Ave., which is the site of the Pickens County Head Start Program, to the Clearview Simpson Heritage Foundation after a five-year agreement.

Santa visiting Norris for cookies with kids
NORRIS — Are your children hoping to meet Santa Claus in person and let him know what they want under the tree on Christmas morning?
If the answer is yes, the Norris Community Building will be the place to be on Saturday, as Santa will be there to enjoy cookies with all the kids.
Santa will take time out of his busy schedule to come to the event to see all the area boys and girls from 10 a.m.-noon. Parents are encouraged to bring a camera or cellphone to take a picture.

There are many great cookie recipes out there, and everybody has favorites.
However, Christmas cookies are in a special category. These four recipes are associated with Christmas in my family and give an extra memory to the kitchen.
The best way to make these cookies is with children. Even small children can do some task.
