EASLEY — Pickens County Council chairman Roy Costner said one of the county’s biggest challenges is preparing for predicted growth.
“Right now, Pickens County is slated to grow at 22 percent in the next 10 years,” he said.
Costner and vice chairman Chris Bowers spoke on growth at the Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce’s recent State of the County luncheon.

GREENVILLE — Proceeds from a comedy show benefit will be given to an Easley family who recently lost a special member.
“A Very Special Episode of the Joke Show” will be held at 8 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Comedy Zone in Greenville, producer Carrie Adams said.
The show will benefit Craig Holcombe and his family. Holcombe’s wife, Amanda, died on Dec. 21, three weeks after being diagnosed with melanoma.
“It had already spread to her liver, pancreas, spleen and lungs,” Adams said. “It moved incredibly quickly. It’s just incredibly sad.”
Amanda created an Instagram hashtag “#melanomygodwtf” after being diagnosed.
“That hashtag is being used all over social media to help collect things associated with Amanda,” Adams said.
“Amanda was a writer — a really great writer,” Adams said. “Her Instagram posts are really poignant and very moving. Amanda was loved by so many
