Traffic concerns arise over proposed Easley development

EASLEY — Easley residents and city officials have concerns about the additional traffic a proposed new development would bring to the Botany Park area.

On its January agenda, Easley City Council was set to approve 9.01 acres located at 1218 S. 5th St. for development as a planned unit development.

Bojangles’® celebrates grand opening of Liberty restaurant on January 16

LIBERTY — Liberty your wait is over. On Tuesday, January 16, Bojangles’ will celebrate the grand opening of a new restaurant, located on 7239 Moorefield Memorial Parkway. This location is owned and operated by Bojangles’ franchisee BOJ of WNC, LLC, which operates three other Bojangles’ restaurants across Pickens County.

COUNTY — The bitterly cold recent weather highlights the importance of having somewhere warm to go.

But some people in Pickens County had nowhere to get out of the cold, except perhaps vacant, unheated buildings.

“I don’t care if you’re a drunk, I don’t care if you’re an alcoholic, on drugs, whatever,” New Deliverance Baptist Church pastor Tracy Gantt said. “You still need to be warm.”

Gantt and his wife, Sunshine, are hoping to create an emergency homeless shelter in Pickens County. The couple spoke about the issue during the Pickens County Legislative Delegation’s annual meeting with constituents Monday night.

Central woman works to share warmth with needy this winter

COUNTY — Over the last several weeks, temperatures have hit record lows in the area.

During the winter months, many in Pickens County find themselves in a battle to simply stay warm. Without any means to buy blankets, sleeping bags or even winter coats, many feel the full brunt of winter’s harsh wrath.
