Rogers golf tourney scheduled for April 21
PICKENS — The 14th annual Charles F. Rogers Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament is scheduled for April 21.
The tournament, which annually benefits a male and female senior basketball player from Pickens High School planning to attend a university, college or technical school, is set to kick off with a 2 p.m. shotgun start at Southern Oaks Golf Course.
The tournament will follow a captain’s choice format, and entry costs

Innovative show to raise money for local band programs Friday
PICKENS — Trans-Siberian Orchestra founder Mark Wood will join with local music students to help Pickens County celebrate its sesquicentennial with a performance at the Pickens County Performing Arts Center in Liberty on Friday night.

I’m so excited about the Birchwood Gallery grand opening this Friday and Saturday at the Holly Springs Center. The Birchwood Artisan Gallery currently includes the arts and crafts of 42 artisans from our region. And their work is good.

Edward Reed
LIBERTY — Edward Reed, 65, of 117 Piney Trail, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 2, 2018, at his residence.
Born in Rhine, Ga., he was a son of the late Halen and Estelle Whitehead Reed.
He retired from CES in Greenville and was of the Baptist faith.
