PCSO: No charges in Doodle Trail incident
Rumors of lewd activity unfounded, chief deputy says
EASLEY — The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office said last week that social media rumors about lewd activity on the Doodle Trail were unfounded.
According to a news release issued by chief deputy Creed Hashe, deputies were dispatched to provide assistance to the S.C. Highway Patrol after a call about a suspicious person on the Doodle Trail near Rice Road in Easley at around 7:15 p.m. June 12.

Quake Shakes Lake
Minor earthquake causes no trouble
SUNSET — Did you feel it? Probably not.
The U.S. Geological Survey said an earthquake shook northern Pickens County on Monday evening, but it was likely not felt by 
many people.
The magnitude 2.2 quake was epicentered near the eastern shore of Lake Jocassee at 5:59 p.m., according to the USGS.

Primary runoffs set for Tuesday
COUNTY — Pickens County voters will head to the polls one more time next Tuesday for the 2018 Republican primary runoffs.
On the local level, it’s do or die in the race between incumbent Neal Collins and Alan Quinn for S.C. State House District 5 seat. Easley establishing foundations to help recreation, athletics

EASLEY — The city of Easley is creating two foundations to support athletic programs, including one in memory of beloved late Easley resident Joe Lesley.
Council voted on the Joe Lesley Athletic Assistance Foundation and the Parks and Recreation Foundation during their June 11 meeting.
Part of that resolution was to contract with the Foothills Community Foundation to serve as “trustee of funds.”
“The city of Easley does not have any foundations established that allow for people to donate to a specific cause,” city administrator Stephen Steese said.

ClemsonFest has new site for 25th event next month
CENTRAL — ClemsonFest will have a new home to celebrate its 25th year next month.
The annual community Independence Day celebration will be held from 5-10 p.m. July 3 at 1569 Eighteen Mile Road in Central, the site of Spittoono.
The festival will bring up to 7,000 people to enjoy the music of the Carolina Coast Band, according to event organizers.

Culinary Club renamed
The Friends of the Sarlin Library-sponsored Culinary Club celebrated its three-year anniversary with lunch at the 
Lighthouse restaurant recently and adopted Liberty Library Lunch Bunch as its new name. Activities include luncheons at the library enjoying shared dishes and recipes, programs, picnics and outings to area restaurants, etc. The club meets the second Wednesday of each month at 11:30 a.m. at the Sarlin Library. PCYMCA Piranhas win Pickens home swim meet
PICKENS — The Pickens County YMCA Piranhas Swim Team churned up the waters recently by winning a home swim meet against four other Upstate YMCAs.
“Our Pickens Piranhas Swim Team is one big family,” said Lindsay McKever, swim team assistant coach. “Parents and 
swimmers are all involved in the swim meet and have lots of fun.”
Rachel Rahn, a student at Anderson University who still swims for the Piranhas, also helped coach the team at the home meet.
Pickens put 37 swimmers in the pool at the meet, and almost all swimmers improved times. Some of the biggest improvements were Will Blakely, Katelynn Phelps, Mia Yousey and Rebekah
