DAR helps provide a merry Christmas for local children
CLEMSON — The Wizard of Tamassee Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), brought brand-new, unwrapped toys to donate at its December luncheon in Clemson to the Oconee County Program of U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, which includes providing Christmas gifts to children in the Clemson, Central and Liberty areas of Pickens County.
Del Williams, the coordinator of the Oconee County program, explained that the Marine Toys for Tots program is directed by the Commander, Marine Forces Reserve, with the assistance of his staff, from the Marine Forces Reserve. The local Oconee County program covers Oconee County, the Pendleton area of Anderson County, and the Clemson, Central, and Liberty areas of Pickens County.

Old-fashioned treats help celebrate holidays

Perhaps food isn’t important to some, but at our house, it’s always a topic of interest.
And food is an integral part of celebration. The smell of evergreen, the crackle of wrapping paper and the scents from a busy, fragrant Christmas kitchen are all part of ritual.
You may want to make special foods a part of your family’s rituals.
Usually, especially if there are children in the home, this is a much-anticipated activity. And including them, when possible, in the preparations will be an experience they never forget.
So gather at the table and cook.
