Easley hires new volleyball coach
EASLEY — Rachael Huff has been tabbed as the new head volleyball coach at Easley High School.
Huff served as an assistant coach for the Green Wave over the past two seasons. Prior to her time at Easley, Huff coached at the KCJV Volleyball Club. Huff played volleyball at Daniel High School, where she earned a varsity letter for four seasons.
Huff earned a BA in elementary education from the University of South Carolina

Helicopter installed at Hampton Memorial Park

EASLEY — A project several years in the works came to fruition Thursday with the installation of an OH-58D Kiowa Warrior helicopter on the grounds of the Capt. Kimberly Hampton Memorial Library in Easley.
The decommissioned helicopter will be the centerpiece of a park honoring Hampton, an Easley native who was the first female pilot in United States military history to be shot down and killed as a result of hostile action.
Hampton was killed when the helicopter she was flying was shot down near Fallujah, Iraq, on Jan. 2, 2004.

Police: Daniel student had gun in car

CENTRAL — A Daniel High School student faces two charges after authorities say he brought a pistol onto school grounds.
Billy Tikeith Remont Bruce, 18, of Clemson, is charged with unlawful possession of a pistol and possession of a pistol on school property, Pickens County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Chad Brooks said in a news release.
School administrators and the school resource officer investigated the incident, he said.
During a search of Bruce’s vehicle, a loaded 9mm pistol was found under the driver’s seat, according to the release.

Early school start waiver in jeopardy?
