Courier Trespass Notices 8-26-20
In the state of South Carolina, trespass after notice is a misdemeanor criminal offense prohibited by section 16-11-620 for the South Carolina Code.

Official: County’s COVID-19 numbers trending downward

PICKENS — Pickens County administrator Ken Roper has been talking about the county’s COVID-19 numbers for months now.

On Friday, he had some good news to share in a Facebook Live update video.
“The slope (of cases), the rise over the run, has started to level off a little bit,” Roper said. “That’s good. It tells us that we’re not getting cases as quickly as we were a couple of months back.”
The county’s number of cases that DHEC considered active has also started to decline, he said.

Police: Suspect in bat beating had COVID-19
Charged with attempted murder, man being held in isolation at detention center
PICKENS — An attempted murder suspect told Pickens police that he had COVID-19 as he was being arrested this week.
According to a news release from Pickens Police Department Lt. Samuel Byers, officers responded to an address on Ann Street on Sunday after a call about an assault.
According to Byers, officers were told a man had gone to the home and assaulted a woman with a baseball bat and his fists.
The woman was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital for medical treatment following the incident, Byers said.

County’s 2-week virus incidence rate lowest in SC
COLUMBIA — Although South Carolina officials have reported four new COVID-19 deaths in Pickens County over the past week, the virus’ spread in the county over the past two weeks is cause

Pickens City Council votes to recommend people wear masks
PICKENS — Pickens City Council members voted unanimously Monday night to “strongly recommend” that people wear face coverings inside all public buildings and businesses.
In the resolution, passed in light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, council cites the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines urging people to wear cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus.

Mile Creek revenue, county development up despite pandemic

PICKENS — Current revenues at Mile Creek Park are more than double what they were at this point last year.
County administrator Ken Roper discussed revenues during his update to county council during its Aug. 10 meeting.
