A person’s head is attached to the neck, and a mask is designed in a way to fit on a person’s face. Now, for your information, a face has two eyes, one nose and a mouth. It’s on the front of the head. 
There are two ears on the head — one on each side.
Now, in order to protect mankind from the highly contagious coronavirus — which you can have and unknowingly spread while showing no symptoms — we are all asked to wear masks when in public or around people.
Oh my goodness. This is terrible.
Imagine asking people to be safe.

How to replace fear with faith
We’ve all had our share of battles this year with the virus and the devastation it has caused, and now as the election is just a few weeks away, many are experiencing stress and anxiety about the future.
Each day I hear from people on both sides of the political spectrum about how afraid they are of 
what is going to happen if the other side wins. We agree, this election is one of the most important in the history of our nation, however, we need to take a deep breath and know that whoever wins, it is not the end of the world.

The peace and quiet of winter time
Dear Editor,
I hate hot weather. You cannot get away from the heat! Winter time is different. In winter, you can escape the cold by going inside and building a fire or at least wrapping up in a blanket. I love to go outside at night in winter. The smell of oak wood burning and looking up at an ebony sky strewn with amber-colored stars. Peace and quiet all around. Only the gentle chirping of the crickets and the distant hooting of an owl. In the far distance, the sound of a barking dog echoing across the hollow below.

Easley’s Safe Industries sponsors 9/11 stair climb
GREENVILLE — More than $10,000 was raised overall for the National Fallen Firefighters 
Foundation (NFFF) during the Greenville City 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb sponsored by Safe Industries in Easley.
The event was a way to honor and remember FDNY first responders who selflessly gave their lives on Sept. 11, 2001.
The stair climb saw participants climb the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center.

Robinson reaches century mark
The daughters of Edward (Rat) Robinson would like to wish their father a happy 100th birthday on Oct. 19, 2020. Mr. Robinson was born and raised in Easley. He was married to the late Thelma Morgan Robinson. He served in the Navy during World War II. He is a longtime member of the Easley Union Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Robinson has three daughters, six grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Many still live in the Easley area.

JOHN MARSHALL HOLLOWAY
EASLEY — Mr. John Marshall Holloway, 85, husband of the late Betty Jean Bowens Holloway, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020.
Born in Easley, he was a son of the late Ida Mae Robinson. Mr. Holloway worked at the Easley hospital for many years and later worked with the Easley Recreation Department. Many also knew him from the work he did at the flea markets selling Avon.
Mr. Holloway loved sports and he loved people. Anyone who knew him knows what a kind and gentle spirit he was. He will be greatly missed by all of his family friends.
Surviving are a son, George Davis of Liberty; and numerous loving family and friends.
In addition to his wife and mother, Mr. Holloway was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Jean Holloway Robinson.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

PICKENS — The Pickens High School Lady Blue Flame volleyball team defeated region opponents Travelers Rest and Westside last week to sweep the region and become region champs.
Pickens also downed two-time Class 3A state champion Powdersville on Saturday.

Pickens’ Saitta sets school record during Senior Night meet
PICKENS — The Pickens High School Blue Flame cross-country teams held Senior Night as they competed on their home course last week for the final time this season.
Pickens seniors Amber Saitta, Angel Howell, Stefani Gillespie, Brooke Crawford, Dylan Bray, Jackson Masters, Levi Shelton, David White, Griffin Mason and Cody Massey were all recognized.
In the girls’ varsity race, Saitta broke the previous school record of 19:59 by 22 seconds with a time of 19:37 and a second-place overall finish. Seventh-grader Grace Newman rounded out the top 10 with a time of 21:31. Junior Holly Newman ran her personal best time of 24:24, and Howell ran her season-best time of

PICKENS — On a night where it seemed like the Pickens Blue Flame and the Easley Green Wave were never going to stop trading punches, the Blue Flame came out victorious against all odds.
