Central to honor vets with first Wreath Across America event
CENTRAL — The Town of Central is planning its first-ever Wreaths Across America event at noon Saturday, Dec. 19, for National Wreaths Across America Day.
There will be wreaths available at the event at Mt. Zion Cemetery for participants to place on the graves of veterans. It will be a family event for children and adults.

Kay, Parris exchange vows at Windy Hill Barn
Aaron Parris and Christy Kay were united in marriage at noon Dec. 12 at Windy Hill Wedding and Event Barn in Simpsonville.
The Rev. Joey Parris performed the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mark and Patti Kay. She graduated from Anderson University in 2016. She is currently a teacher.
The groom is the son of Joey and Cheryl Parris. He graduated from the S.C. Fire Academy in 2016. He is currently a firefighter.
The bride chose Kyla Kay, her sister, as her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Amanda Walls, Carly Bruner, Erin Reid, Jessica Bass, and Megan Pruitt.
The flower girl was Skylar McDermott.
The groom chose Shawn Parris, his brother, as his best man. Groomsmen were Josh Berryhill, Wade Brooks, JD Segars, Kevin Oldham and Zach Coates. Ring bearers were Bentley Parris, Caleb Richey and Dylan Richey.
After the honeymoon, the couple will reside in Easley.
Easley Place holds grand opening for ‘Evergreen’
EASLEY — Greater Easley Chamber of Commerce president Cindy Hopkins recently joined members of the Easley Place Senior Living leadership team to celebrate the grand opening of a new senior living concept, a hospice neighborhood called The Evergreen.

• Legion, Robinson’s to honor fallen vets
Easley American Legion Post 52, along with Robinson’s Memorial Gardens on Powdersville Road, will be paying honor to fallen veterans at 10 a.m. Dec. 19. As part of a national program, a wreath will be placed on every veteran’s grave in the veterans section of the cemetery. Special speaker will be retired Army Col. Jarrel Alexander of Pickens.
The public is welcome to attend the event.

EASLEY — Mrs. Gloria Jean Smith, 87, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Nov. 27, 2020.
Gloria was born in Canyon, Texas, and was the daughter of the late Roy Samuel Franklin and Merle Tucker Franklin and loving wife to Dr. Lowell W. Smith, DDS.
Survivors include her husband of nearly 70 years, Dr. Lowell W. Smith, DDS, Captain (Ret.), United States Public Health Service.; two sons, Randy Smith (Melanie) of Germantown, Md., and Rick Smith of Smithsburg, Md.; three daughters, Patti Floyd (Peter) of Maryland, Cheryl Watson (Neil) of Central and Carol Wright (Rick) of Simpsonville; two brothers, Kerry Franklin of Euless, Texas, and Roy Franklin of Tucson, Ariz.; and two sisters, Carolyn Baker of Fort Collins, Colo., and Sharon Levin of Tucson, Arizona.
