Community Calendar 4-14-21
• Six Mile Farmers Market set to open season on April 22
Officials announced recently that the Six Mile Farmers Market will kick off its season this month. The first day of the market season will be Thursday, April 22, from 4-7 p.m.
The market is located at 102 S. Main St., in the old fire station downtown, which is also the home of Red, White & Brew. Coffee Co.
• Rummage sale set Dacusville UMC
A huge rummage sale is planned at Dacusville United Methodist Church, located at 1339 Thomas Mill Road in Easley, on Friday and Saturday, April 16-17, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
There will be a hot dog sale from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday. There will also be a bake sale, and the event will be held rain or shine.
Masks and social distancing are recommended.

I know there are some who really don’t like brownies, and I understand and don’t judge. We all have a different set of taste buds and can’t
control our genetic makeup.
But for those of you who do like chocolate — and I am among those — you may like some of these variations on the classic brownie recipe.
None of these recipes are rocket science, fortunately, but I — and my taste buds — think they’re good. We all hope your taste buds agree.
Enjoy them as a treat or an everyday snack.

Easley names new police chief

EASLEY — Easley’s new police chief will be sworn in during the April 12 Easley City Council meeting.
Easley officials announced the hiring of Stan Whitten as the new chief of the Easley Police
Department in a news release last week.
A native of Easley, Whitten has more than 20 years of experience within public service, the release said.
Whitten served as a military police officer and investigator with the United States Army from 1987-1991, the release said. During that time, his duties included working as a member of the Dignitary Protection Team. He was also assigned to

Local residents recall day Liberty avoided military aircraft disaster

LIBERTY —
It was a typical Saturday morning in downtown Liberty, and 12-year-old Jerry Nalley was at home watching TV with his younger sister.
“Probably some Western,” he recollected.
All at once they heard a great “commotion” — and it wasn’t coming from the cowboys and Indians on their black-and-white television set.
“It was just a tremendous noise,” he said. “We didn’t know what in the world it was.”

New face for city council

Central officials considering cluster zoning to save town’s greenspace

CENTRAL — The town of Central has heard no news regarding plans to build 100 homes on 48 acres on Lawton Road, and town administrator Phillip Mishoe said he thinks he knows why.
