Easley knocks off unbeaten Wildcats

PIEDMONT — Easley capitalized on five Woodmont turnovers Friday night in knocking off the Wildcats, ranked ninth in the state in Class 5A, by a 51-33 final score.

Clemson’s struggles continue in 2OT loss against Wolfpack

RALEIGH, N.C. — Clemson struggled offensively as North Carolina State stunned the Tigers 27-21 in double overtime on Saturday at Carter-Finley Stadium.

The Wolfpack ran 96 plays to the Tigers’ 49 and maintained possession for 41:48 of regulation.

County council passes tax hike to pay for road work

COUNTY — During their Sept. 13 meeting, Pickens County Council members officially did away with the county’s road user fee, raising property taxes by nearly 10 mills to provide a new source of funding to pave county roads.

The move was necessitated by officials’ fears that the $20 road user fee would not stand up to legal challenges, after the state Supreme Court ruled that a similar fee in Pickens County
