Red Devils pull out crucial region win

LIBERTY — When Christ Church pitcher Lujack Cole overthrew his third baseman during Liberty’s matchup with the Cavaliers last Tuesday night, Red Devil catcher Camryn Gambrell wasn’t sure what to do as he moved toward third base.
“I saw it fly over him, but I didn’t know if I could get home,” Gambrell said. “I was just waiting on coach to let me know.”

Local heroes welcomed home on National Vietnam Veterans Day
COUNTY — On National Vietnam Veterans Day on March 29, 14 local Vietnam veterans were officially welcomed home and thanked for their military service.

BETTY LEE BARRETT AUSTIN
EASLEY — Betty Lee Barrett Austin, 89, wife for 66 precious years to the late Donald G. Austin, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, with her sons by her side.
Mrs. Austin was the daughter of the late William Chapman and Fannie Lee Adams Barrett of Heath Springs. She was a lifetime nurse, loving wife and mother and devoted Christian and adored her family. The Pickens High School Scholar Athletes of the Week are Ethan Medlin and Aubrey Richardson. Medlin is a member of the junior varsity baseball team and was nominated by his English teacher, Mike Utley. He is the son of Jonathan Medlin and Tiffany Fernanders.
