Pickens PD honors K-9 officer with retirement celebration

PICKENS — A member of the Pickens Police Department began a new life Monday afternoon.
The department held a retirement ceremony in front of Pickens City Hall for K-9 officer Xenia.
A Belgian Malinois, Xenia joined the department in 2017, when she was 15 months old.

Tornadoes leave county with excess mulch

Pickens robotics duo makes world championships
PICKENS — In its first season of competition, a two-girl robotics team from Pickens Middle School has accomplished something no other team in school history has been able to do — qualify for the world championships.
Pickens Middle Sparks VEX Team 98791C, made up of Cassidy Riddle and Zoe Morris, was one of three teams from the school who qualified for last month’s South Carolina VEX Robotics tournament.
