Harden Scholarship winner announced
The scholarship committee of the Cannon Memorial Hospital Auxiliary has announced Lana “Brooke” Smith as the winner of the 2022 Dr. John Harden Scholarship. Smith is a senior at Pickens High School. She is involved in various clubs and organizations within the school and community. The Pickens County Career and Technology Center has recently begun an emergency medicine class. Smith was given the opportunity to be a part of the class and will graduate as a licensed EMT before she graduates high school. The scholarship committee wishes to congratulate Smith and recognize all applicants and wish them all much success in their careers in the health care field.
5Oth anniversary
Winferd and Elaine Riggins celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on May 2. The couple want to thank the Lord for 50 years of holy matrimony.
Lions plan broom sale
Doug Hinkle unloads an order of brooms as the Pickens Lions Club prepares for its annual broom sale at the Pickens Azalea Festival this weekend. The Lions will be located at booth 329 in front of Bivens Hardware. There will be no price increase on the brooms this year.

Asparagus are not just good, they’re good for you. They have vitamin E, K and folic acid and are credited with helping as a conductor of insulin in the body.
They’re a fibrous vegetable, and a serving can fill you up. These are all good reasons to eat asparagus for your health.
But isn’t it nice that something so good for you is delicious.
None of these dishes are really complicated, but they can be served up quickly and pack some punch into an everyday meal.
