Liberty pastor among nine charged in prostitution sting
SENECA — A Liberty pastor was among nine men arrested on prostitution charges last week after a multi-month investigation, according to Seneca Police Chief Casey Bowling.
William Martell Kannarney, 51, of Liberty, was arrested Feb. 13 along with Brandon Bennett, 41, of Seneca; Taylor John Clark, 34, of Toccoa, Ga.;

PCSO K-9 finds missing child

EASLEY — A Pickens County Sheriff’s Office K-9 located a missing child last week.
According to a news release from the sheriff’s office, deputies with the agency’s K-9 unit responded to an Easley home in search of a missing child on Feb. 14.
K-9 Lily was deployed and immediately picked up the child’s scent, the release said.

Patriots end Lions’ season

CENTRAL — Boasting a one-point halftime advantage over the fourth-ranked Powdersville Patriots, the Daniel boys basketball team just needed to hold on for 16 more minutes in order to advance to the Class 3A quarterfinals for the third consecutive year.
Instead, the sixth-ranked Lions came out of the locker room flat allowing the Patriots to go on a 14-0 run that they were never able to overcome in a 72-59 season-ending loss.

Touchberry named next Daniel athletic director

CENTRAL — Daniel High School didn’t have to look far for its new athletic director, as a familiar face was selected to lead the Lions’ athletic programs according to a release from the school last week.
Ben Touchberry has been selected as the next Athletic Director. This announcement follows the resignation of Tommy Plumblee, current Athletic Director, at the end of the 2023-24 school year, the release said.
