Courier Obituaries 2-7-24

JEFFREY NEIL HOOPER

EASLEY— Jeffrey Neil Hooper, 61, born May 22, 1962, passed away at home in Easley on Jan. 23, 2024.

Jeff was predeceased by his father, James Ronald Hooper. He is survived by his mother, Irene Hooper; two children, Chelsea Oslar (Tim) and Jordan Hooper (Alex); and one sister, Cyndi Hooper.

To those who have known Jeff, he will be forever remembered for his indomitable spirit, his tremendous love for Harley-Davidsons and a cool Chevy truck. Jeff was also known to enjoy the companionship of his dear friends, while oftentimes entertaining a good cold beer, or maybe even two. Jeff would be remiss if it wasn’t mentioned that he cherished the time he had with his best friend Steve Kitchens, who paved the way ahead and was assuredly awaiting Jeff’s arrival, so they could be reunited again. Red Devils to take on Chesnee for upper state championship

LIBERTY — The Liberty Red Devil wrestling team took two big steps toward defending their Class 2A wrestling championship over the last few days by taking down Landrum and Ninety Six to open the wrestling duals playoffs.

With those wins, the Red Devils will now have to travel to Chesnee on Wednesday to take on the top-ranked Eagles for the upper state

Green Wave upset fifth-ranked Pickens at home

EASLEY — After letting an early lead slip away, the Easley girls’ basketball team went into the locker room against the fifth-ranked Pickens Blue Flame in danger of dropping its fourth straight game.

Instead, the Green Wave  (9-15, 3-5 Region 1-4A) shutdown Pickens (18-3, 6-2) in the third quarter and held on from there in their best performance of the year as they pulled out the 38-28

Easley boys bash rival Pickens

EASLEY — Coming off a tough overtime loss to Greenwood, the Easley boys’ basketball team hosted Pickens on Friday night hoping to get over the hump with a rivalry win.

The Green Wave (9-15, 3-5 Region 1-4A) were able to do so in a big way as they demolished the Blue Flame (4-18, 0-8) 85-37.

The City of Pickens Police Department would like to thank the Pickens Rotary Club for a donation of $1,000 dollars to purchase Narcan for their officers. The donation allowed for the purchase of 44 doses of Narcan, a life saving medication that can reverse an overdose from opioids, including heroin, fentanyl, and prescription opioid medications when given in time. PPD appreciates Rotary continued support and the work the club does in our community.
