World of Energy kicks off Festival of Trees with canned food drive
UPSTATE — Duke Energy’s World of Energy education center is gearing up for its annual Festival of Trees display and voting contest with a canned food drive to support Oconee County feeding programs.
Now through December, the public is encouraged to drop off canned goods at the World of Energy during normal business hours (10 a.m.-4 p.m., Wednesday-Friday) to support the Duke Energy Foundation’s monthlong campaign to fight hunger in South Carolina. Easley NJROTC teams win area competitions
EASLEY — Easley High School’s Navy JROTC orienteering and drone teams competed in the Area 08 South Region recently, scoring first place in both events.

Legion to host block party for annual Army/Navy game
PICKENS — American Legion Post 11 will host a block party to watch the Army- Navy football game at the post’s headquarters at 185 Hagood St. in Pickens.
The game is set for 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, and all post members and their family are invited. Other members of the community are also invited.
Finger food will be available. If you have a favorite finger food you would like to share, please do so. No alcohol will be permitted.

The Rotary Club of Pickens meets at 12:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Pickens County Museum.

Christmas parades to begin this week

COUNTY – It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas as merchants and homeowners are putting up their trees, covered in light along with decorations galore.
As the calendar inches closer to Christmas Day, many of the Pickens County municipalities will be hosting their annual Christmas parades.
Parades will kick off with the City of Clemson and its annual Christmas Parade on Thursday, Dec. 5, beginning at 6 p.m. on College Ave.
