Sylvia Sue Hancock Arledge
Easley — Sylvia Sue Arledge, 70, of Easley, wife of Melbourne J. Arledge, Sr., died Monday, Aug. 20, 2012.

Born in Athens, Ga., she was a daughter of the late W.A and Nelle Pritchard Hancock. Sylvia was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was well known for her quick wit and fantastic sense of humor.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of 43 years, are two sons, Melbourne J. Arledge, Jr., and wife, Katrina, of Eagle River, Ala., and Sean T. Arledge and wife, Sarah, of Simpsonville; a daughter, Shannon A. Peters and husband, Tim, of Greer; one brother, W.A. Hancock Jr, of Greer; one sister, Carmen Podlasek and her husband, Janusz; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Dianne Nelson.

Memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 25, at 5 p.m. at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, 205 E. College Street, Simpsonville, SC 29641.

Barry Holladay
Central — Barry Clark Holladay, 59, of 406 Smith Memorial Highway, died unexpectedly on Monday, Aug. 20, 2012 in Rock Hill.

Born in Anderson he was a son of the late Stiles and Pauline Elrod Holladay. He graduated from Georgia Institute of Technology with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, and was employed by RCS Corporation where he was currently working at Duke Energy’s Catawba Plant. His hobbies included riding motorcycles, hiking, camping, fishing, gardening and especially spending time with his family. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Kimberley Joye Holladay of the home; two daughters, Cori-Alice Holladay of Boone, N.C., and Cari-Anna Holladay of Central; five sons, Cally Holladay of Cleveland, Tenn., Dustin Duncan of Greenville, Kyle Duncan of Central, Kevin Duncan of the home, and Allen “A.J.” Holladay of the home; three grandchildren, Eli Holladay, Luke Holladay, and Kylie Stephens.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Holladay were 12:30 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

J. Robert (Bon) Eades
Liberty — J. Robert (Bob) Eades, Sr., died at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Bob was born to J.T. Eades and Lula Wilkinson Eades on Sept. 22, 1930 in Six Mile. He married his devoted wife Nancy A. Burdette Eades on Dec. 27, 1958 in Liberty. Bob attended Clemson University and retired from Jacobs Sirrine after a 35 year career in the pulp and paper division where he held several patents. He was a veteran of the Korean War.

Bob was a committed Christian and a member of Liberty United Methodist Church where for years he served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees as well as other church offices. His hobbies included hiking, biking, gardening, Clemson athletics, and he was an avid reader of history. Foremost Bob cared about and loved his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children, J. Robert (Rob) Eades, Jr., (Camille) of Easley and Michelle (Shelley) Eades Long (Dan) of Greenville. He was the beloved “Poppy” of his two granddaughters, Jordan and Alison Eades. He is also survived by his sister, Rebecca Davis.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Julius, James, Tom, Edward and Paul Eades and sisters, Berta, Willie, Ollie and Jeanette.

Funeral services were 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road. Burial followed in Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley.

Robert H. Keown
Easley — Robert Harvey Keown, 73, husband of Jean Griffin Keown, of 101 Oakdale Lane, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Albert James and Annie Mae Raines Keown, Mr. Keown retired from Ortec, was a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 32 years, are three sons, Brian Keown of Suwanee, Ga., Richard D. Wooten, III. of Richmond, Va. and David Wooten of Easley; one daughter, Adrienne K. Davis of Suwanee, Ga.; two brothers, one sister and four grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Keown was predeceased by a sister.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26 at Brushy Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Rodney Graham officiating. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Clyde J. Huff
Easley — Clyde John Huff, 90, wife of Georgia Campbell Huff, died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012.

Born in Tuscarawas, Ohio, he was the son of the late Clyde Edward Huff and Lelia Denny Huff. Mr. Huff was a graduate of the University of Chicago. He was the first employee hired at Baptist Easley Hospital in 1958 and later retired as the Lab Director. He was also a member of First United Methodist Church in Easley and was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 66 years, are two daughters, Vickie Robertson (Ronald) of Liberty and Jayne Wright (John) of Easley; five grandchildren, Jonathan Robertson, Brian Robertson, Sarah Jane Wright, Elizabeth Delaurier, and John Andrew Wright.

Funeral services were held on Sunday, Aug. 26 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Nancy Dianne Davis Bagwell
Easley — Nancy Dianne Davis Bagwell, age 64, wife of Ronnie E. Bagwell, died Thursday Aug. 23, 2012.

Mrs. Bagwell was born in Pickens; the daughter of Beatrice Geneva Brown and the late, Lawrence Glendell Da­vis. Mrs. Bagwell was retired from the United Way of Pickens and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include two daughters, Lisa Wyatt of Westminster, Rhonda Allison (David) of Pickens, one son Ja­son Bagwell (Stepha­nie) of Chesnee, a brother Dale Davis (Diane) of Powders­ville, five grandchil­dren Monica Wyatt, Caryn Wyatt, Sarah Allison, Luke Bagwell, Jonah Bagwell, one great-grandchild Jayce McMinn and one niece Bevin Davis.
Funer­al Services were con­ducted 4 p.m. Sunday at the Dillard Funeral Home Chapel, by the Rev. Tommy Hayes and the Rev. Lewis Edwards. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Gar­dens.

Kathlene Lynn Davis
Easley — Kathlene Lynn Davis, 44, wife of Christopher Davis, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 at her home.

Born in Syracuse, N.Y., a daughter of Edward Laurence Kieffter and Linda Lytle Acuff, Mrs. Davis attended Liberty Christian Outreach.

Surviving in addition to her husband and parents, are a daughter, Bailey Davis; a sister, Kimberly Brown; and a brother, Jason Welch. Mrs. Davis was predeceased by a step-father, John “Jack” Acuff.

A memorial service will be held a later date.

Ann S. Popham
Six Mile — Cathy Ann Swafford Popham, 58, of 112 John Lewis Drive, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012 at her home.

Born in Oconee County, she was the daughter of the late William Harold Swafford and Christine Collins Swafford.

Surviving are her husband of the home, J.L Popham; two daughters, Crissie Neal (Bobby Massengale) of Liberty and Carrie Morton (Michael) of Six Mile; two grandchildren, Gage Neal and Hunter Morton; three half sisters, Jackie Reece and Beverly Scruggs both of Walhalla and Lisa Dye of Athens, Ga.; and a half brother, Dale Swafford of Starr.

Mrs. Popham was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by three brothers.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Entombment followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park Mausoleum.

Paul Lee
Easley — Paul Lee, 88, of 286 Lacy Lane, died Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012 at Oakmont East.

Born in Coke County, Tenn., a son of the late Mac and Rachel Elizabeth Gregory Lee, Mr. Lee retired from the textile industry and was of the Church of God of Prophecy faith.

Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Willie Mae Durham Lee of the home; three sons, William Earl Lee of Pickens, Paul F. Lee (Evelyn) and Hal Lee (Tracy), all of Greenville; a brother, Emmett Lee (Beatrice) of Easley; two sisters, Bessie Holloway and Pearl Patton, both of Greenville; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Lee was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Ann Long and by two brothers and a sister.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Travis Jones officiating. Burial followed in Graceland West Cemetery.

Frank Lindsey
Pickens — Charles Franklin “Frank” Lindsey, Jr., 60, of 109 Planer Street, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012 in Myrtle Beach.

Born in Georgia, he was the son of the late Charles Franklin Lindsey, Sr. and Charlene Carr Lindsey. Mr. Lindsey was a former employee of Easley Combined Utilities and served as a U.S. Marine in the Vietnam War.

Surviving are his wife, Lynn McCall Lindsey of the home; four daughters, Melissa Childs (Danny), Kristy Stephens (Bart), Jordan Lindsey and Jenna Powell (Eric) all of Pickens; six grandchildren, Matthew Childs, Gray Stephens, Morgan Stephens, Charlie Ramey, Brody Powell and Allie Powell; and a brother, Marty Lindsey of Tennessee.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 3 p.m. in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with burial to follow in Sunrise Cemetery in Pickens.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
