SUNSET — John Charles Brock, 64, died, Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015.

He was born in Pickens County, son of the late William Frank and Jessie Mae Garrett Brock. He was formerly employed with Greenwood Mills and later Liberty Denim.

Survivors include daughters, Lisa Alexander (Khol) of Pickens; Heather Brock (Brian Reid) of Simpsonville; and Kimberley Hale (Andreas) of Travelers Rest; grandchildren, Trent, Trevor and Kirk Alexander, Alexandra Brock and Charleston Hipps, and a great grandchild, Emilee Alexander. Also surviving is his partner, Jennifer Emerson of Liberty and her children, Jeremy, Michael and “Little” John, and a sister, DeEtte McAbee (Edward) of Pelzer.

The family received friends at Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens from 1-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, with a graveside memorial service following at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Central at 3 p.m.

EASLEY — Ruth Jones Pitts, 87, wife of the late Roy Batson Pitts, died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015, at Manna Health and Rehab.

Born in Balsam Grove, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Thomas Lemuel and Maude McCall Jones. Mrs. Pitts was a homemaker and a member of Victory Baptist Church, where she served as a former Sunday school teacher.

Surviving are a daughter, Kathy Womack and husband, Butch, of Easley; a son, Jimmy Pitts of Easley; sisters, Ruby Hudson, Sula Tilly and Lula Hudson; brother, Farris Jones; grandson, Pierce Womack and wife, Kristin, of Liberty; granddaughter, Kayla Crosby and husband, Colby, of Ridgeland; and a great-granddaughter, Madelyn Kate Womack of Liberty. She was predeceased by a twin brother and several sisters and brothers.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial was private.

SIX MILE — Kathy Darlene Carter, 57, of Six Mile, died Jan.18, 2015.

She is survived by her children; Leilani May of Six Mile, Crystal Honea Easley; and Dennis Honea, of Woodstock, Ga.; mother, Ellender Carter, of Six Mile; siblings, Steven Carter, of Pensacola, Fla. Denise Estep (Brad Estep), of Portland, Ore; and Leilani Looper, of Easley; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dennis Carter, of Six Mile. Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 22, with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

RACHEL H. ELLENBURG

EASLEY — Rachel Henderson Ellenburg, 97, formerly of Store Road, wife of the late Rev. Carl Ellenburg, died, Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015, at Capstone Health and Rehab.

Born June 20, 1917, in Pickens County, to the late Fred and Maude Watson Henderson, Mrs. Ellenburg retired from Sangamo Electric and was a member of Amazing Grace Fellowship.

Surviving are three brothers, Curtis Henderson, Bruce Henderson and Fred Henderson; grandchildren, Layne Lemons (Trish), Dana Clay (James), Kendall Lemons (Lesli), Tani Clark (Rick), Clancy Cole (Randy) and Andi Cahaly (Craig); a daughter-in-law, Harriett Ellenburg Gibson; a son-in-law, Dewey Lemons; and 12 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ellenburg was predeceased by a daughter, Betty E. Lemons, a son, Larry A. Ellenburg, one brother and three sisters.

Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

PICKENS — Alanah E. Holcombe, 23, died, Friday, Jan. 30.

Born in Pickens County, Alanah is the daughter of Randal “Randy” and Caroline Berryhill Holcombe. She was a member of Gilead Baptist Church.

She is survived by her parents, Randy and Caroline Holcombe, and a brother, Garrett Holcombe, all of the home, paternal grandparents, Essie Hardin of Pickens; Cecil and Beverly Holcombe of Walhalla, and maternal grandparents, Jerry and Jane Seay of Easley.

She was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Carl Berryhill.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, in the Dillard Funeral Home chapel. Burial followed at Cedar Rock Baptist Church Cemetery.

JAMES M. “PEANUT” ROGERS, SR.

EASLEY — James Manning “Peanut” Rogers, Sr., 86, of Legion Street, died Saturday, Jan. 31, at Pruitt Health of Pickens.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Jack Glenn and Elizabeth Gantt Rogers, Mr. Rogers retired from Fiber Industries of Greenville and was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church, where he belonged to the Men’s Bible Class.

Surviving are two sons, Billy Rogers and Ben Rogers, both of Easley; a daughter, Sherry Hall (Tim) of Easley; two brothers, Gerald Rogers (Elaine) of Pickens and Bobby Rogers (Louise) of Easley; two sisters, Jackie Roper of Greenville and Linda Patterson (Donnie) of Pickens; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, Mr. Rogers was predeceased by a son, James “Butch” Rogers, two brothers, Jack Desmond Rogers and Larry Joe Rogers, and by a sister, Pat Gwinn.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Andrew United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

CHARLES HENRY LESLIE

PICKENS — Charles Henry Leslie, 75, of Pickens, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, at his residence.

Born in Pickens, he was the widower of Jeanette Smith Leslie and a son of the late Ernest and Onie Cox Leslie.

He retired from Ryobi and was a member of Griffin Baptist Church. He was an avid rabbit hunter.

Surviving are a daughter, Marilyn Looper (Glenn) of Asheboro, N.C.; a son, Dwayne Leslie (Lisa) of Easley; a sister, Argyle Pace of Pickens; five grandchildren, Amanda Gibbons (Ryan) of Asheboro; Kim Lineberry (Aaron) of Asheboro; Tessa Gillespie (Brian) of Travelers Rest; Abigail Leslie of Easley; and Brooklyn Leslie of Easley; and two great grandchildren, Cadence and Cameron.

Funeral services to honor the life of Mr. Leslie will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

EASLEY — Donald Todd Moore, 55, husband of Cindy Youngblood Moore, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015.

Born in Greenville County, a son of Virginia Wyrick Moore and the late Robert Houston Moore, Mr. Moore was employed with St. Francis Hospital and a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 36 years, a son, Todd Jackson “TJ” Moore (Adair) of Easley; a daughter, Carson Rose Moore of the home; and a sister, Jan Aiken (John) of Easley. In addition to his father, Mr. Moore was predeceased by a brother, Bobby Moore.

Memorial services will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 4, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

GALBREATH LEOPARD

SIX MILE — Patricia Ann Galbreath Leopard, 71, wife of the late Allen Ray Leopard died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015, at St. Francis Hospital.

Mrs. Leopard was born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Velma Roxie Stephens Galbreath and James Edward Galbreath.

Mrs. Leopard was an avid gardener and loved her family.

Survivors include one sister; Betty Wilson of Six Mile; one brother; Earl S. Galbreath and wife, Dina, of Liberty.

Mrs. Leopard was predeceased by her husband, parents and one brother Charles F. Galbreath.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. in Dillard Chapel. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

GLORIA JOAN POWELL

PICKENS — Gloria Joan Powell, 67 of 103 Ny Way Drive, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2015.

Born in Greenville County, the daughter of the late McDonald (Mack) and Carolyn McCall. Joan retired from Mayfair Mills in Pickens, and was of the Baptist Faith.

Surviving are her son, Jason Powell, and wife Michelle of Pickens; one brother, Gary McCall of Pickens; four grandchildren, Ashley Powell, Shane Powell, Kaley Powell and Cody Powell; two great-grandchildren, Caleb Curlett and Madison Millard; and special friends Ray Powell and Jane Hamby.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Powell was predeceased by a son, Michael Powell, and a brother, Donald McCall.

Graveside services for the immediate family will be held Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 1 p.m., at Mountain View Memorial Gardens in Travelers Rest.

LILLIAN STEWART

LIBERTY — Lillian Crowe Stewart, 90, of 318 Hillandale Road, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2015, at Capstone Health and Rehab.

She was the widow of J.L. “Jack” Stewart and a daughter of the late Benjamin and Janie Patterson Crowe.

She retired from E.C.P. and was a member of Calumet Baptist Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Paige Stewart of Liberty, and Sue Baldwin (Norman) of the home; two sons, John “Rip” Stewart (Wanda) of Easley, and Bryan Stewart of Charleston; two sisters, Bernice Smith of Liberty, and Joyce Crowe of Easley; a brother, B.H. Crowe of Liberty; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
