EASLEY — Saturday will be a day set aside for community cleanup in Easley, as city council has named April 18 “Easley Pride Day.”

The community cleanup event will help residents properly dispose of large refuse items that are not collected by the city curbside recycling program.

Debris containers will be placed throughout the city in the following locations:

• City Hall (205 North 1st Street);

• Former Alice School/Easley Senior Center, located at the corner of Katherine Street and Blair Street;

• Former EMS Station at corner of Richard Street and Alfred Road;

• Park located at corner of Front Street and Blue Ridge Street;

• Westside Ball Park located at corner of West 5th Street and South 8th Street;

• Shell Station at the corner of Brushy Creek Road and Crestview Road;

• Lot on Crestview adjacent to Breakers Store, at the corner of Sheffield Road and Crestview Road.

The following items may be placed in the containers for disposal:

• Furniture such as couches, chairs and recliners;

• Mattresses and box springs;

• Scrap lumber;

• Old tires and rims from cars, motorcycles and bicycles

The containers used on Easley Pride Day are not intended to be used for the purpose of hauling away everyday household trash, officials said. Each location will be manned to ensure that only the allowed items are placed in the containers.

There will be a shredder truck located at Easley City Hall from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. for all paper shredding needs.

In case of rain, Easley Pride Day will be rescheduled for April 25.
