State commerce secretary visits Easley Rotarians

EASLEY — South Carolina Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt spoke at the Easley Rotary Club’s weekly meeting Tuesday afternoon at the Carr Center in Easley.
Hitt, a former manager of corporate affairs at the BMW manufacturing facility in Spartanburg, was appointed in January as state commerce secretary by governor Nikki Haley.
Hitt spoke to the Rotarians about the strong economic development in the state of South Carolina.
Many companies are looking to relocate to the state because of the workforce and work climate here, Hitt said.
Two specific positive examples Hitt cited were BMW and the new Boeing expansion in North Charleston.
Hitt also spoke about Amazon coming to South Carolina and the questions that have arisen from other businesses that think it may be unfair. He explained that his predecessor promised this deal and that South Carolina should honor the commitment it made to Amazon.
