High school football off to a running start

Football practice has gotten underway at all four Pickens County high schools.
‘Meet the Green Wave,’ FCA jamboree this week
EASLEY — High school football season is officially underway after teams began practicing last Friday, and Easley fans will have the chance to meet the Green Wave[cointent_lockedcontent] this week.
Members of the Easley football team and cheerleading squad will be available for pictures with fans at the “Meet the Green Wave” event, which will run from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday at the Easley High School football stadium.
The event will also feature player introductions by first-year Green Wave coach John Windham, as well as a chance to meet the coaches, get autographs, play games, enjoy bounce houses and face painting and music provided by B93.7 and the EHS marching band.
Hamburger and hot dog plates will be available for $5, and Green Wave spirit gear will be for sale as well.
Jamboree action will get underway this weekend when Daniel hosts the FCA Football Jamboree, scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at Singleton Field on Saturday.
Christ Church and Pickens will open the action, followed by Southside Christian against Liberty at 8 p.m. Daniel will take on Berea in the nightcap, which will begin at 9 p.m.
Easley is preparing for its first game-type action under Windham’s leadership in the annual Easley Green Wave Football Jamboree, scheduled for next Thursday.
After Ben Lippen School takes on Carolina High starting at 6:30 p.m. and Pickens takes on Southside at 7:15 p.m., Easley will take the field against county rival Liberty at 8:30 p.m.
Pickens is planning its annual Blue Flame jamboree for next Friday, while Daniel will also host its annual Daniel Day Jamboree on Aug. 21.
