SSgt. Lester L. Haynes, (USMC Ret)
Pickens — SSgt. Lester Luther Haynes, (USMC Retired), 71, husband of Betty Lewis Haynes of Pickens, died suddenly Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012 in Pickens.
SSgt. Haynes was born in Oconee County a son of the late Eva Haynes Hendricks. He was retired from the U. S. Marine Corps following two tours in Viet Nam and later retired from Jennings Dill, Inc. He attended Pickens Independent Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion Post #507.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Lewis Haynes of the home, sons James Haynes and Joe Hendricks both of Pickens, daughters Teresa Peace of Dacusville, Tina Entrekin of Six Mile, and Tracy Mann of Pickens, 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters Dorothy Cowan of Easley and Elizabeth Justice of Westminster.
SSgt. Haynes was preceded in death by a daughter, Tammy Haynes, his mother Eva Haynes Hendricks and first wife Patricia Haynes, and a sister, Carol Page.
Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Sunday in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors followed in the Veteran’s Garden of Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Andrea D. Propes
Easley — Andrea Dalton Propes, 33, of Easley, died Feb. 3, 2012 at her home.
Andrea was born in Easley, daughter of Gladys Rogers Martin of Easley and Lonnie Dalton of Pickens. She was a graduate of Easley High School, class of 1997 and attended Southern Wesleyan University. Andrea was a member of Life Church of God in Dacusville and was employed with the Greenville office of The Social Security Administration as a case technician.
Survivors include her husband Jason Scott Propes of Easley, a son Alexander Thomas Propes and daughters, MaKayla Grace Propes and Rebekah Leah Propes, her mother and step-father, Gladys Rogers Martin and Charles R. Martin of Easley and her father Lonnie Dalton of Pickens. Surviving also is her step-brother, Charles Richard Martin, Jr. (Mary) of Sumter and step-sister, Lindsay Poole (Jason) of Six Mile, grandparents, Lee and Margaret Rogers of Easley, uncle, Michael Rogers of Easley, Father-in-Law, Thomas Propes (Joann) of Anderson and Mother-in-Law Ivy Whiting of Belton.
Andrea will be remembered by all for her love and devotion to her children.
Funeral services were conducted 12 p.m. Monday in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens with the Rev. Guy Roberts officiating. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Bob Meeks

Easley — Robert Graham “Bob” Meeks, 88, of 110 Willow Place died Friday at Cottingham House in Seneca.
Born in Fanwood, N.J., he was a son of the late Francis Marion and Rose Smith Meeks. He proudly served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army and was of the Methodist faith.
Surviving are three daughters, Lois Cain(Tommy) of Pickens, Deborah Dandeo(Joe) of Lebanon, N.J. and Judy Bailey(Barry) of DeRidder, La.; two brothers, Frank Meeks of Plainfield, N.J. and Richard Meeks of N. Plainfield, N.J.; six grandchildren, Jason, Michael, Jeremy, Melissa, Kaitlin and Kallie,; and two great grandchildren, Dylan and Hailey.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a sister, Eunice Steiger.
Services will be held at a later date in North Plainfield, N.J. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Plainfield, N.J.

Ansley Claire Stancil
Liberty — Our precious little angel, Ansley Claire Stancil, died Feb. 4, 2012.
Born in Greenville, she was the daughter of Josh Allen and Ashley Williams Stancil of Stancil Road.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by two brothers, Asher Williams and Landon Stancil, both of the home; Grandparents, Connie and Ed Zeimet of Liberty and Allen and Kathy Stancil also of Liberty.
Funeral services for Ansley were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was held at Golden Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Tony Stancil conducted the service.

Paul R. Jackson

Liberty — Mr. Paul Raymond Jackson, 74, husband of Juanita Stanton Jackson, of 101 Ivey Drive, died Monday, Feb. 6, 2012 at his home, after several years of declining health.
Born in Keyser, W.Va., a son of the late Henry Robert and Rose King Jackson, Mr. Jackson was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, a member of the Sam Poe Masonic Lodge, 284 A.F.M. and retired from Imperial Die Casting.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home, are three sons, Curtis Jackson (Angie) of Gaffney, Theron Jackson (Dolly) of Central and Christopher Jackson of Liberty; and three grandchildren, Wayne, Stephanie and Nicholas Jackson.
Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
Family members are at their respective homes.

Willie Mae Garrett
Pickens — Willie Mae Garrett, 87, wife of the late Floyd Garrett, died Feb. 6, 2012.
Born in Pickens, she was the daughter of the late Olive Ward and William Clifton Grant.
Mrs. Garrett graduated from Pickens High School. She was the first woman supervisor at Sangamo Electric and also owned and operated Garrett’s Outlet. She was a member of Porters Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her two sons, Jerry (Debra) Garrett, of Pickens and Donnie Garrett, of Lexington; one daughter, Ginger (Jim) Lewis of Pickens; five grandchildren, Tiffany Devine and husband, Eric, of Simpsonville; Zach Lewis and wife Kathy, of Pickens; Melissa Smith and husband Ken, of Liberty; Tim Garrett of Greenville; and Andrea Taylor of Anderson; and four great grandchildren, Kara and Sarah Devine; Jaida Smith; and Braelen Lewis. She is also survived by one brother, James Grant of Pickens and one sister, Katie Chapman, of Blue Ridge, N.H.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Grant.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 1:30 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
