• Soapstone set to host fundraiser

Soapstone Church invites everyone to a special fundraiser at the church, located at 296 Liberia Road in Pickens, this Saturday, May 21.

The event will feature fine cooking and will be held from noon-8 p.m.

Visitors will enjoy true Southern cooking, including a fish fry, barbecue and fried chicken with all the fixings right from Mrs. Mabel’s kitchen.

• 10K/5K scheduled for Six Mile festival

The Issaqueena’s Flight for the Fight 10K/5K in Six Mile will take place on Saturday, May 21, with the 10K start time at 7:30 a.m. and 5K start time at 8 a.m., followed by the town’s annual Issaqueena Festival at 10 a.m. The walk/run will start and end at Ponderosa Park in Six Mile. There is also a half-mile fun run at 8:45 a.m. The 10K and 5K are timed events, with awards for overall, masters, grandmasters and age divisions. • Reece reunion set for May 22 in Pickens

Descendants of John S. Reece and Ada C. Reece will come together for their annual reunion at the Mountain Grove Baptist Church fellowship building at 1 p.m. on May 22.

Plates and cups will be furnished. Mountain Grove Baptist Church is located at 644 E. Preston McDaniel Road in Pickens.
