Liberty to hold first Automotive Showcase and Festival Saturday

LIBERTY — The city of Liberty will host its first Liberty Automotive Showcase and Festival this Saturday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Depot Street will feature arts, crafts, a community yard sale and children’s activities. Inflatables are free for children. Children will enjoy free face painting, balloon animals, colored hair streaks, and other games from local businesses and churches. Kids can also enjoy gem mining.
Liberty Mayor Michael Sheriff will take a turn in a dunking booth, along with other city officials. The cost is $2 for three pitches or $15 to “press the button.”
The opening ceremony begins at 10:45 a.m. with the Liberty High School Army JROTC’s color guard. Liberty’s own R.J. Little, a previous Liberty Idol winner, will sing the National Anthem. Members of the award-winning Pickens County-based veterans group will join the JROTC in saluting the flag. They will also bring their military vehicles to the festival.
All favorite festival foods will be there for lunch, snacks and take-home supper: hot dogs, BBQ, pizza, fried Oreos, ice cream, Italian ice and much more.
The Liberty fire and police departments will have fire trucks and police cars on display. The firehouse will be there for kids to learn about fire safety. Child safety identification kits are also available.
Entertainment in the gazebo begins at 11 a.m. with Belle Roulette. Ford Batson follows at noon. Don Nivana begins at 12:30 p.m. Chelsea Jackson will provide the crowd with a Zumba demonstration at 1 p.m. Euphoria continues the entertainment at 2 p.m. Attendees are asked to bring chairs and relax while enjoying the music of these local artists.
The automotive showcase and free cruise-in starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 4 p.m. Pre-registration is not required. The line up begins on Front Street.
