MYRTLE BEACH — Two local products helped lead the North squad to victory in the 2016 Touchstone Energy North-South All-Star Bowl on Saturday in Myrtle Beach.

Former Pickens football coach John Boggs and Daniel defensive lineman Miles Turmon participated in the the 2016 Touchstone Energy North-South All-Star Bowl.
Turmon helped lead a North defensive unit that forced five turnovers on the day en route to winning the game 21-14.
The athletes and coaches were given first-class treatment, riding in charter buses, staying in an oceanfront hotel, eating in local restaurants, receiving Nike apparel and participating in two-a-day practices at Myrtle Beach High School.
Among the most rewarding activities of the week was a shopping spree, where one player from each team paired up to take a local underprivileged student Christmas shopping.
Former Pickens football coach John Boggs got the opportunity to coach Ronny Walls, left, and Jyston Kendrick, two of his former players at Westside, during the the 2016 Touchstone Energy North-South All-Star Bowl last week.
“Coaching in this game was one of the greatest honors of my career,” said Boggs, a former Blue Flame standout during his playing days. “It was very rewarding to work, learn and fellowship with a quality staff of coaches from around the state over the last several months. It was even more fun to spend the past week working with not only a gifted group of athletes, but with young men who were awesome representatives of their schools and communities.
“This event was first class in every way, shape and form. I feel blessed to have been chosen to be a part of it.”
