Peoples National Bank gets new look

EASLEY — Customers of The Peoples National Bank saw a new look earlier this week when they visited their bank.
Over the weekend, The Peoples National Bank (PNB) signs changed to South Carolina Bank and Trust (SCBT) as a result of the merger which was completed on April 24, 2012.
“As part of the process of changing our logo, customers will receive new debit cards and checks, but there is one thing that won’t change — that’s the great service.” said Andy Westbrook, SCBT regional president. “In addition to the new name, our customers can now enjoy the convenience of more locations with a statewide banking network.”
PNB’s five locations in Easley, Pickens, Greenville and Powdersville unveiled their new signage on Saturday, May 18. All branches opened on Monday as branches of SCBT.
SCBT has a network of 53 full-service locations in 19 South Carolina counties throughout the state. In addition to the general banking services which include checking, savings, mortgage, business services and wealth management, SCBT will also offer trust services through its Wealth Management Group.
“The signage change makes it easier for our customers to identify our statewide branch network and allows us to continue to build the SCBT brand,” said Greg Lapointe, upstate banking group president. “We want to make it as convenient as possible to bank with us along the I-85 corridor and we are delighted to have The Peoples National Bank employees join our team.”
The merger with PNB is SCBT’s first presence in this area of the Upstate. Founded in 1933, SCBT was started in the midst of the Great Depression and starting in this turbulent economic environment gave SCBT a great foundation to thrive in the current economic downturn. When it comes to customers, the principles of providing fast, friendly and accurate service, and building deep and lasting relationships has always been the primary focus. The Peoples National Bank had a very similar mission, which made the cultures of the two companies a perfect fit.
“Basically, the change for customers is minimal. In most cases, it is as simple as a new product name or a new look for their debit card,” said Westbrook.
During the upcoming weeks, the former PNB branches will be hosting customer appreciation days to celebrate their new name. Please visit or contact your local office for specific dates and times.
