Wanda Sutherland
Pickens — Wanda Faye Ramey Sutherland, 51, of Pickens, died on Thursday, June 21, 2012 at her home.
Wanda was born in Hardee, Fla. a daughter of the late Woodrow and Lycnia Arnold Ramey. She was employed with Reliable Sprinkler Co. and was a Baptist.
Survivors include her sons, Nathan Sutherland of the home and Justin Sutherland (Reba) of Pickens and a special friend Larry Cox of Pickens. Also surviving is a granddaughter Brayden Sutherland, brothers James Ramey, Kenneth Ramey, Jeff Ramey and sisters Carol Harris and Lynn Ramey all of Pickens.
Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Saturday in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Carolyn Alexander
Easley — Carolyn Holliday Alexander, 71, of Easley, wife of the late Charles Edward Alexander of 49 years, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Delois and Inez Whitlock Holliday. Mrs. Alexander retired from Ryobi Plant and was a member of Enon Baptist Church.
Surviving are two daughters, Paula Williams (Bill) and Greta Alexander all of Easley; three sisters, Pat Emmons of Greenville, Margaret Garrison of Pickens, and Eloise Phillips of Easley; two grandchildren, Laura and Will Williams.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Nancy Stewart.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Friday, June 22 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Raymond B. Cook
Easley — Raymond Benjamin Cook, 63, of Easley, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 after a one year brave and courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Greenville, a son of the late Raymond B. and Mildred Merck Cook, Mr. Cook was employed with Ortec, Inc., and was a member of East Pickens Baptist Church where he belonged to the Obedient Followers Sunday School Class. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served with the U.S. Navy.
Surviving are his wife, Phyllis Reeves Cook of the home; two sons, Kenny Allen Cook (Heather) of Easley and Benji Cook (Sherry) of Travelers Rest; a brother, William C. Cook of Orangeburg; two sisters, Jane Boggs of Pendleton and Sue Whitten of Inman; and seven grandchildren, Caleb Cook, Mikala Robinson, Sydney Cook, Kameryn Cook, Destinee Cook, Kinsley Cook and Dylan Cook.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday at East Pickens Baptist Church with the Rev. Jamie Duncan and Larry Brotherton officiating. Burial, with military honors, followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Employees of Ortec, Inc. and members of the Obedient Followers Sunday School Class were asked to serve as Honorary Escorts.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Cancers Centers of the Carolinas and to the employees of Ortec for the love and support they gave to Raymond.

Calvin W. James
Central — Calvin Woodrow James, 88, of 111 White Oak Circle died Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Greenville, Calvin was a son of the late Raymond E. and Ellen Batson James. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are four sisters, Helen Maw of Six Mile, Ruth McGuire of Easley, Edna Wilson of Greenville and Dorothy Berlin of Dillard, Ga.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by five brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services were 3 p.m., Friday in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Brooks officiating. Burial followed in Golden Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

George Mauldin
Easley — George Mauldin, 80, of Easley, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Anderson County, a son of the late Benjamin and Addie Mae Pace Mauldin, he was the owner of Dixie Produce and was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving, are a daughter, Christel Mauldin; three sisters, Grace Anderson, Lois Covington and Beatrice Anthony; a brother, Roy Eugene Mauldin; two grandchildren, Brandon Kirby and Jayde Sexton.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Mabel Black.
Graveside services were 2 p.m. Friday, June 22 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Ann Holcombe
Easley — Mrs. Ann Gregory Holcombe, 63, wife of Bruce Holcombe, died Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at her home.
Born in Union County, a daughter of the late Ernest E. and Doris Culbertson Gregory, Mrs. Holcombe was an RN with Baptist Easley Hospital and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her husband of the home are a daughter, Wendy Callahan (Mark) of Greenville; a sister, Jean Belue (Pete) of Union; and three grandchildren, Peyton, Jensen, and Ethan Callahan.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, June 23 at Trinity Baptist Church. Burial followed in Union Memorial Gardens at 3 p.m. Saturday, Union.

Phyllis Cannon
Easley — Phyllis Cannon, 92, died on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at her home in Easley after a period of declining health.
She was well known to visitors of Aunt Sue’s Country Corner on Highway 11, where she entertained for nearly 20 years with her lively uplifting music, sunny disposition, welcoming smile, and her love of the Lord. She never met a stranger and welcomed all as family. She was an entertainer, music teacher to generations, organist and choir director at numerous churches throughout her lifetime. Her musical talents and vivacious personality will be greatly missed. She was born in Butte, Montana and moved to South Carolina with her family in 1952.
She is survived by her two daughters and two sons: Nellie Merritt and husband Don, Phyllis Holt, Fay “Sandy” Cannon and wife Susan, and Richard “Rocky” Cannon and wife Susan; nine grandchildren: Christine Merritt (Kathy Doherty), Michelle Shore (Daren), Missy Meyer (John), Richard Cannon (Stephanie), Russell Cannon (Christina), Kelly Smoak (Sam), Christen Cannon, Carey Cannon (Janet), and Angel Stark (Tony); and 18 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Fayette A. Cannon, and grandson, Donald “Matt” Merritt, Jr. She was the youngest, and last surviving, of 10 children.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens.

Eunice Summerall Newton
Liberty — Eunice Roberta Stancel Summerall Newton, 78, of Jackson Street, died Friday at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Walhalla, she was the widower of the late Hansel Summerall, Sr. and a daughter of the late Jess and Cora Lee Aiken Stancel. She was retired from Alice Manufacturing and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are two daughters, Polly Ann Cole of Easley and Barbara Phagan of Greenville; six sons, David Summerall of Pelzer, Jessie, Marshall and James Summerall all of Easley, Harold Summerall of Greenville and Hansel Summerall, Jr. of Piedmont; a sister, Jody Aiken of Liberty; a brother, Earl Stancil of Easley; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to her first husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Jeff Summerall; and two brothers, Leroy and J.C. Stancel.
Funeral services for Mrs. Newton were held Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. Burial was at Westview Cemetery.

Michael Pierce
Pickens — Michael Dean Pierce, 50, of 109 Lowery Lane, died Sunday after a courageous battle with cancer surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Waynesboro, Tenn. he was a son of the late Billy Dean Pierce and Virginia Martin Chism. He worked as a Paramedic with Pickens County EMS for 18 years and was a member of Calumet Baptist Church. In his free time he loved photography, especially taking landscape, wedding and nature photos.
Surviving are his wife, Susan Porter Pierce of the home; a brother, Danny Pierce of Central; his father and mother in law, Dave and Eugenia Winchester Porter of Liberty; an uncle and aunt, Brent and Joan Raynes of Waynesboro, Tenn.; also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his step father, Max Chism.
A memorial service to honor Mike’s life will be held Wednesday at 3 p.m. in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:30 until 2:45 p.m. at the mortuary.

Gladys Smith Ragsdale
Easley — Mrs. Gladys Smith Ragsdale, 94, wife of the late Harry Harrison Ragsdale, formerly of The Willows and 102 Freeman Road, died Monday, June 25, 2012.
Born February 27, 1918, in the Ruhamah Community of Liberty, a daughter of the late William Stephen and Margaret Cantrell Smith, Mrs. Ragsdale retired from Swirl, Inc. and was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, where she belonged to the Ida Looper Sunday School Class.
Surviving are many special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Ragsdale was predeceased by a son, Donald Ragsdale, five brothers and three sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 27 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in the Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, prior to the service.

Gloria A. Morgan
Pickens — Gloria Ann Russell Morgan, 37, of 257 Amberwood Road and wife of Steven A. Morgan, died Sunday, June 24, 2012 at her home.
Born in Dallas, Texas, she was a daughter of Virginia Smart Stillwell. Gloria attended Lawrence Chapel United Methodist Church and was an avid animal lover.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother, are three brothers, Eric Russell of Pickens, James Stillwell of Pennsylvania and Justin Stillwell of Pendleton; three nieces; one nephew; and numerous pet cats.
Graveside services will be 4 p.m., Wednesday at Lawrence Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery with the Rev. Peggy Garland officiating.
