Our Diamond Day celebration was a great success! The weather started a little shaky

The Pickens Recreation Department sponsored a local Pitch, Hit and Run Competition on Wednesday, May 3, at 6 p.m. on Senior Field at Jaycee Park. Participant age groups included 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 and 13-14 girls and boys. First-place winners in each of the categories, plus all-around winners, will advance to the sectional competition in Anderson on June 3. During the noon festivities, our seventh annual PYAC Town Creek Speedy Ball Race was run. 336 colorful plastic balls raced down Town Creek in just under 10 minutes. We are immeasurably grateful to all the folks who sold and helped us with this fundraiser. The Recreation Department was proud to award three sellers who went above and beyond.
