Pickens, Easley celebrate July 4

COUNTY — Pickens and Easley will each celebrate Independence Day next week in their own ways.
For the 14th year in a row, Pickens will host the annual Pickens Celebrates the Fourth event, hosted by East Pickens Baptist Church on Main Street.
According to organizers, the purpose of the event, which will run from 2-10 p.m. is “to encourage, promote and nurture the spiritual well-being of the citizens of Pickens County.
“We accomplish this by honoring God as the author and founder of this great nation and honoring the men and women who are presently serving or have served in defense of the United States of America”
As in past years, there will be plenty of fun for all ages to enjoy. There will be a sound stage with exciting talent, so attendees are reminded to bring a lawn chair. The children’s area will offer fun at no cost, including a bounce house, carnival games, face-painting and sno-cones. There is no admission fee for the event, and all entertainment is free. The only cost is a minimal fee of $5 for an all-day pass for amusement rides. There will also be various vendors available selling of concession food and drinks.
Ending the festivities will be fireworks display, compliments of the city of Pickens, set to begin at 10 p.m.
