Amy Jo Bryant Hughes
Liberty — Amy Jo Bryant Hughes, 75, widow of Bruce Wayne Hughes, of 110 Sunset Drive, died peacefully on Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Easley she was a daughter of the late Ansel Thomas and Lucille Cantrell Bryant. During her working career she was employed by Sangamo Electric and later retired from Central Textiles where she worked in human resources. Her true love in life was her family, and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are two daughters, Terry Jo Hughes Rumph and her husband Dale of Clemson, and April Lynn Hughes of Atlanta, Ga.: two sons, Bruce Wayne Hughes, Jr. and his wife Carla of Columbia, and John Thomas Hughes and his wife Sandy of Indianapolis, Ind.; a sister, Nancy McJunkin of Berea; a brother, George Bryant of Easley; three grandchildren, Ashly Hughes, Brittany Sherman and Joshua Rumph; a great grandson, Jack Sherman.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde Bryant.
Funeral services to honor the life of Mrs. Hughes were 2 p.m. Sunday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel conducted by the Rev. Willie Honea. Burial was at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

Mary Lee James
Liberty — Mary Lee James, 74, of Liberty, died Thursday, June 28, 2012 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Pickens County, the daughter of the late Eddie A. and Rosa Lee Albertson James, Miss James was employed by Cornell Dubilier and was of the Baptist faith.
Miss James is survived by her longtime companion, James Carllyle McCall; aunts, uncles, many cousins and her family of friends at Cornell Dubilier.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Sunday, July 1 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Liberty Memorial Gardens.

Charles Hayes

Easley — Mr. Charles E. Hayes, 80, husband of Ruby Raines Hayes, died Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Emeritus, Greenville.
Born in Laurens County, a son of the late Jesse Thomas and Devora Masters Hayes, Mr. Hayes retired from construction, was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church and a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of the home, are three daughters, Rhonda H. Clark, Jan H. Brown (Jeff) and Lynn H. Albertson (Stanley), all of Easley; two brothers, Edgar and Horace Hayes; one sister, Lucille Baldwin; four grandchildren, Josh Clark, Lee Clark, Lauren Brown and Bailey Albertson; three great-grandchildren, Zoe Hester, Zachary Clark and Elisha Clark.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Hayes was predeceased by a son, Stephen Anthony Hayes.
Funeral services were 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 3 at Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

William Arnold Gibson
Easley — Mr. William Arnold “Bill” Gibson, 73, husband of Corrie Dalton Parsons Gibson, and the late Virginia Way Gibson, died Friday, June 29, 2012 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Kemper County, Miss., the son of the late Hubert Marvin and Sara Massey Gibson, Mr. Gibson retired from the printing industry and was a member of Smith Grove Baptist Church.
Surviving are one son, William Alan Gibson of Easley; one sister, Rachel Ellen Hurtt (Sonny) of Miss.; one grandson; Justin Jones; three step-daughters, Margaret, Mary and Sandra; and two step-sons, Joe and Alan.
Funeral services and burial will take place on a later date in Kemper County, Miss.

 Thelma Cantrell Reeves
Liberty — Mrs. Thelma Cantrell Reeves, 87, of 8560 Moorefield Memorial Highway, wife of the late Edward Eugene Reeves, died Tuesday, July 3, 2012 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born January 12, 1925 in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Ross and Lillie Chapman Cantrell. Mrs. Reeves was the former owner and operator of Suzuki of Greenville and Suzuki of Easley for 23 years. She loved playing the piano and was of the Assembly of God faith.
She is survived by her son, Meldon Reeves of Liberty; daughters, Sandra Watson (Gary) of Seneca, Darlene Reeves of Charleston and Eugenia Swilling (Eric) of Myrtle Beach, brother, James (Doris) Cantrell; seven grandchildren, Tamie Briggs, Christopher Barfield, Makkie Watson, Jody Watson, Joshua Swilling, Gabriel Swilling and Zachary Swilling; nine great-grandchildren, Mark McLane, Chaz Barfield, Chelsea Watson, Larissa Briggs, Cody Watson, Tyler Watson, Libby Swilling, Taylor Swilling and Bella Swilling.
Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road. Entombment followed in the Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum at Robinson Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation Finance Department, 30 East 33rd St, New York, NY 10016.

Lois G. Funderburke
Pickens — Lois Galloway Funderburke, 86, widow of James Funderburke of Pickens and Anderson, died Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Mrs. Funderburke was born in Transylvania County, N.C. a daughter of the late Oliver and Julie Mason Galloway. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Airy Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son David Lee Funderburke (Dana) of Columbia, daughters Janet F. Cantrell (Marty) of Easley and Lynn F. Manley (Gene) of Anderson, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving is a brother Raymond Galloway (Nadine) of Brevard, N.C., and a sister Marie Cameron of Sharon, Pa.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Funderburke was preceded in death by a son James A. Funderburke, brothers Glenn Galloway, and Sonny Galloway and sisters Louise Dishman and Lorena O’Kelley.
Funeral services were 3:30 p.m. Monday, July 9 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home officiated by the Rev. Tommy Owen and Dr. Keith Shorter. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Malcolm Buford Wilson

Piedmont — Malcolm B. Wilson, 76, husband of Mitzie June Evans Wilson, of Powdersville and Fort Walton Beach, Fla., died Thursday, June 28, 2012 in Pensacola, Fla.
Mr. Wilson was born in Lakeland, Fla. son of the late Buford R. and Georgia Bohannon Wilson. He retired from The United States Air Force after 20 years service and later from the US Department of the Treasury. Mr. Wilson was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church and the Air Force Sergeants Association.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Mitzie June Evans Wilson, daughter Wren Loesel of Broomfield, Colo., son Rhett Kendrick of Powdersville, grandchildren Kyla, Julianne, and Hailee Andrews and Camille Kendrick, great grandchildren Braxton Forrester and Scarlett Kendrick as well as two sisters Linda Rehberg of Mulberry, Fla. and Judith Kinney of Cocoa, Fla.
Funeral services were 3 p.m. Thursday, July 5 in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home in Pickens officiated by the Rev. Mickey Campbell. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens with full military honors.

Alvin L. Gravely

Greer — Alvin L. Gravely, 85, of 60 Riverbirch Way, Greer died Saturday, June 23, 2012.
Mr. Gravely was born March 27, 1927 to W. Marvin and Artie Hughes Gravely of Pickens. He was named for his grandfathers Alvin Willoughby (Will) Gravely, a farmer in the Twelve Mile community and James Luther Hughes, a blacksmith in Pickens. His McKinney and Gravely family roots date in Pickens County to the 1790s and his Dorr and Hughes family heritage from the early 19th century. After graduating from Pickens High School in 1944 at the age of 17 Alvin volunteered for the U.S. Navy and was stationed on Guam through the end of World War II. Upon his return he studied at Wofford College before attending Draughn’s Business school in Greenville. Until retirement in 1989 Alvin was employed by Steel Heddle Manufacturing Company for many years. Characterized by his love of family and his many friends, Alvin Gravely, like his father Marvin, never met a stranger. He showed compassion for others by helping many through the years. Raised in a Christian home and in Grace Methodist Church he was devoted to Jesus whom he knew as Savior and Friend. He was happily married to Mary Stone Gravely for 63 years. He and his wife were active members of Taylors First Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; a daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Warren Stephens of Simpsonville; a granddaughter, Heather Stephens; and brothers Donald Gravely of Pickens and William Gravely of Denver, Colo.
A memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 26 at Taylors First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Taylors First Baptist Church, 200 W. Main St., Taylors, SC.

Rhonda Thigpen
Easley — Rhonda Thigpen, 45, wife of Ronald Thigpen, died Friday, July 6, 2012 at her residence.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of Janie Owen Sloan and the late Alvin B. Owen, Mrs. Thigpen was a homemaker and a member of Pickens Church of God.
Surviving in addition to her husband and mother, are three sons, Jamie Dean Black, Brandon Michael Owen and George Chadrick Owen; three sisters, Donna Lee Owen Todd, Tina Marie Owens and Dixie Ann Owen Poovey; two brothers, Alvin Bobby Owen and Allen Brett Owen; a grandmother, Inez Galloway Owen; and one grandchild, Emma Black.
Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 11 at the home of Harold and Donna Todd, 220 Willow Spring Road, Six Mile, SC 29680.

Luther Ramey
Easley — Mr. Luther Douglas Ramey, 65, died Monday, July 9, 2012 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
Born in Easley, a son of the late John C. and Marie Sams Ramey, Mr. Ramey was a retired HVAC technician, a US Army Veteran and of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are four sons, David Brian Ramey (Donna) of Lafayette, Tenn., Bradley Allen Ramey of Easley, Scott Douglas Ramey of Pickens and Richard Dean Ramey of Easley; one daughter, Melissa Ann Smith of Pickens; three brothers, James Floyd Ramey of Liberty, Bruce V. Ramey of Easley and Harvey W. Ramey of Pickens; one sister, Jean Smith of Liberty; 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ramey was predeceased by two brothers and three sisters.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, July 12 at Pendleton Street Baptist Church, Easley.
Visitation will be Thursday from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. at the church, prior to the service.

Emma Nevaeh Green
Easley — Emma Nevaeh Green, infant daughter of Gordon and Audrey Gates Green, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012 at Baptist Easley Hospital.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her brothers, Zaccheus Samuel Green and Jacob Blaine Green; sisters, Hanna Renee Green and Leigha Eve Green; grandparents, Matt Arotin and Audrey Gates.

Eunice Garrison DeLoache
Easley — Annie Eunice Garrison DeLoache, 96, wife of the late James Elliott DeLoache, died peacefully Monday, July 9, 2012 at National Health Care of Greer.
Born in Anderson County, Mrs. DeLoache was the daughter of the late Louis Cureton and Cordelia Hutchinson Garrison. She graduated from Seneca High School in 1933 and Winthrop College in 1937 with a degree in Home Economics. She was a former teacher at New Prospect High School, where she taught Home Economics. Prior to her marriage in 1942, she was a Home Management supervisor for Farm Security Administration. Mrs. DeLoache became a homemaker then later was a social worker for the Department of Social Services for 16 years. Mrs. DeLoache was a member of First United Methodist Church in Easley, where she was a Sunday School teacher for 60 years, a member of the Wesley Sunday School Class, and a member of United Methodist Women. She was a member of the Family and Community Leaders Club formerly known as Homemakers Club, American Legion Auxiliary, and an active member and organizer of Meals on Wheels of Pickens County.
Surviving are a daughter, Lynda DeLoache Johnson (Colie) of Easley; three sons, James Elliott “Jim” DeLoache, Jr. (Joan) of Easley, Louis Benjamin DeLoache of Greenville and William Garrison DeLoache (Janny) of Charlotte; and seven grandchildren, Deborah Lynn Johnson, Laura Ann Gilstrap, William Colie Johnson, Olivia Bree DeLoache, Jeremy Austin DeLoache, William Thomas DeLoache and Rebecca Rawls DeLoache.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. DeLoache was predeceased by a daughter, Cordelia Ann DeLoache; and five brothers, Clyde, Paul, Henry, Charlie and Sam Garrison.
Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church in Easley. Private Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends Friday from 1:30 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at First United Methodist Church.
