Investigation continues in death of elderly woman at care facility
EASLEY — Easley police and the Pickens County Coroner’s Office are still investigating the June 30 death of an 84-year-old woman at Majesty Health and Rehab in Easley.
Pickens County Coroner Kandy Kelley said the death was possibly heat-related.
Kelley said in a report last week that Eloise Arnold, who lived at the facility, was transported to Baptist Easley Hospital after being found unresponsive. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Kelley told the Courier on Tuesday that there was a problem with the air conditioning in part of the facility. The heat in the Easley area was reported to be as high as 102 degrees on the day of the fatality as a result of a heat wave that swept across much of the country in late June and early July.
Kelley said an autopsy was performed on July 2, but results were not expected for approximately 4-6 weeks.
