Carlos “Bud” Alexander

Easley — Mr. Carlos Irvin “Bud” Alexander, 81, husband of Audrey Ethylene Childs Alexander, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, June 5, 2017.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late M.C. Alexander and Jeanette Brown Alexander Kelley, Mr. Alexander retired from Bi-Lo and previously attended Galilee Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 60 years, are two daughters, Nancy Alexander Lambert of Piedmont, and Darlene Alexander Hester (Eddie) of Easley; three brothers, Edward Alexander of Easley, Calvin Alexander and Michael Alexander (Cheryl), all of Liberty; three sisters, Elizabeth Nix (Harrison) and Gail Bennett (Bobby), all of Easley, and Evelyn Bowie (Tojo) of Pickens; four grandchildren, Melissa Lambert Clark (Randy), Andrea Lambert Davis (Shawn), Kevin Lambert (Hope) and Clint Hester; five great-grandchildren, Matt Clark, Kayla Clark, Tyler Clark, Mason Davis and Elliott Davis; a great-great-grandchild, Carson Clark; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Alexander was predeceased by his stepfather, Julius Kelley; a brother, Matthew Alexander; a sister, Mildred Powell; a son-in-law, Wayne Lambert; and a brother-in-law, Cleo Powell.

Funeral services were held June 8 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with the Rev. Clyde Gravley officiating. Burial followed in Graceland Cemetery-West.

Elizabeth “Pat” Tinsley

Easley — Elizabeth “Pat” Tinsley, 78, of Easley, born April 14, 1939, wife, mother, grandmother and sister in Christ, went to be with her Lord and Savior June 6, 2017, surrounded by her family.

Pat was the daughter of Willard V. Harris and Frances G. Pennington. She is survived by her husband, Jones Frank Neal Tinsley; sister, Mary F. Godzinski, of Greenville; two children, Mary Smith (Beth) of Easley and Jones Frank Tinsley II (Joey) and Meg of Hartsville; six grandchildren, Nancy and J.R. Reigel, Nicholas and Daphne Smith, Robert Smith, Rebekah Smith, Sylviann and Marshall Alexander, and Jones Frank Tinsley III; six great-grandchildren; and many more nieces and nephews.

Pat graduated from Parker High School and Draughon’s Business College. She dedicated more than 40 years of service working at Louis P. Batson Inc. of Greenville. She attended Geer Memorial Baptist Church, where she was an active member of the choir and passionately served in the children’s nursery and programs. Pat lived for Clemson University sports, especially Tiger football, and was a loyal IPTAY member for 36 years. She was certainly “All In.”

A celebration of life ceremony took place at Geer Memorial Baptist Church in Easley on June 9.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made in Pat’s memory to Geer Memorial Baptist Church (911 S. 5th St., Easley, SC 29640) or Hospice of the Upstate (1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621).

John C. Smith

Six Mile — John Calvin Smith passed away on Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at his home. Born in Six Mile, he was a son of the late Alvin Judge and Pearl Towe Smith.

Mr. Smith retired from Easley Mechanical and was a United States Army Ranger veteran of the Vietnam War.

Surviving are a daughter, Crysty Riggs of Seneca; a son, John T. Smith of Liberty; two brothers, Donnie Smith of Easley and Parker Smith of Six Mile; and four grandchildren, Leirin Smith, Emily and Jacob Riggs, and Austin Smith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Tony Smith.

No formal services are planned. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested to The Animal Rescue Fund of South Carolina (on premises of FoxNest Veterinary) 1445 Clemson Blvd., Seneca SC 29678.

Ronald Gregory Durham

Six Mile — Ronald Gregory Durham, 68, was called home on June 8, 2017, to be with his Lord.

He was born in Pickens County on Feb. 13, 1949, son of the late Dorothy Stone Durham and R.G. Durham.

Ronald is survived by his daughter, Terri (Jason) Hair of Simpsonville; his son, James (Ruby) Durham of Greenville; grandchildren, Lillian Hair, Caedyn Durham and Evan Durham; and sisters, Elaine Durham, Tracy McCall and Leatha Hembree.

Ronald was predeceased by his parents, R.G. Durham and Dorothy Stone Durham; grandparents, Lester Stone, Lela Stone, Dewey Durham and Lee Durham; and brother, Jimmy Durham.

Mountain View Funeral Home held a funeral service on June 11 in the funeral home chapel in honor of Mr. Durham.

Gabriel Bradley Hein

Pickens — Gabriel Bradley Hein, 28, passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. He was the son of Randall and Sheila Gilstrap Hein and of the Christian Faith.

Gabriel was a student of Greenville Technical College, a graduate of Mauldin High School and an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hiking and kayaking with friends and family and had great love for his dogs. Some of his hobbies included rebuilding/repairing cars and building radio-controlled cars. He loved his two sisters, Danielle Hein of Sunset and Faith Hein Powell (Cody) of Easley. Gabriel was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Charles and Sylvia Hein, and maternal grandparents, Robert Austin and Catherine Gilstrap.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 10, at Pickens First Baptist Church. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Lula Gladys Crenshaw Burgess

Pickens — Lula Gladys Crenshaw Burgess, 102, wife of the late Alfred Burgess, went to be with the Lord Thursday June 8, 2017, surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Burgess was born in Pickens County, the daughter of the late Lizie Gilstrap Crenshaw and King Crenshaw.

Survivors include two daughters, Earlene Clark and Shirley McJunkin, both of Pickens; one sister, Elizabeth Mott of Greenville; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at Mountain View Funeral Home. Burial was held in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Betty “Jean” Trotter Travers

Pickens — Betty “Jean” Trotter Travers, 77, of Pickens, passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2016, at St. Francis Hospital.

Born in Pickens County on Sept. 17, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Edgar and Alma Jones Trotter. Jean was of the Baptist Faith and worked for Belk’s Department Store for many years. She loved having coffee delivered to her in the morning by her husband of 24 years, Edwin “Ed” Travers. Jean enjoyed traveling, growing flowers and spoiling her fur baby, Tiny Travers, the family cat.

Also surviving are her four children, Lisa Chappell Beers of Atlanta, Robert B. Travers (Kelley) of Dawsonville, Ga., Carrie Willard (James) of Dunwoody, Ga., and Tracy Nicholson (Brian) of Gainesville, Ga.; two brothers, Wayne Trotter (Ruth) and Jerry Trotter (Carolyn); one sister, Jessie Mae James (Harold); and nine grandchildren, Josh and Sophia Beers, Jonah and McKenna Willard, Emily, Ellie and Erin Nicholson, and Zachary and Taylor Travers.

Jean was preceded in death by one brother, Randall Trotter, and one sister, Sarah Hayes.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 17, from 10-11 a.m. at Dillard Funeral Home, with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel.

Margaret Hammett Seaborn

Six Mile — Margaret Hammett Seaborn, 85, of 417 N. Main St., passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2017, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Greer, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Letha Herman Hammett.

Mrs. Seaborn was a 1951 graduate of Jordan High School, where she was a member of the ladies’ basketball team. She married James H. Seaborn Sr. on March 21, 1953, and spent her life with him.

She worked as a supervisor for many years at Sir Shirt Maker, and later retired from Moore’s in Pickens. She was a longtime member of Six Mile Baptist Church. She loved making and painting ceramics, but her passion was tending to all of her beautiful flowers.

Surviving are her husband of 64 years of the home; a granddaughter she raised as her own, Kayla Seaborn of Six Mile; a son, James Seaborn Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Pickens; two daughters, Debbie Herron and her husband, John, of Salem, and Sharon Miller and her husband, Doby, of Seneca; a sister, Clara Breazeale and her husband, Charles, of Dacusville; a brother, Cecil Hammett and his wife, Pat, of Greer; five grandchildren, Jason Dyer, Blake Seaborn, Kendra Dyer, Rickey Edgar and Elisha Miller; and eight great-grandchildren, Jordan, Fagan, Gage, Bella, Lyric, Brooklyn, Kolbie and Brady.

In addition to her mother and father, she was preceded in death by a brother, Robert “Bud” Hammett.

A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Liberty Mortuary Chapel by the Rev. Dr. Ray Longenecker. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at the mortuary.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to the staff of The Cancer Center of the Carolinas, especially Kathy Christman, M.D., Devon Starkey, N.P., Carrie Margret, N.P., Amy, Michelle and Barbara, as well as Julie Griffin with Providence Care Hospice for all of their love, support and care shown throughout her sickness.

Bonnie Lou Lowery

Belton — Bonnie Lou Lowery, 81, wife of Glenn F. Lowery for 57 years, went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 11, 2017.

Mrs. Lowery was born in Pickens County, the daughter of the late Rev. Tete and Bertie Patterson. Glenn and Bonnie are members of Rock Springs Church in Easley. Bonnie loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband Glenn; three sons, Charles Lowery of Belton, SGM Greg Lowery of Arlington, Va., and Mark (Angela) Lowery of Columbia; grandchildren, Joshua (Jan) Lowery, Katie (Travis) Grimes, Travis Lowery, Matthew Lowery and Eric Lowery; four step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; one and sister, Nancy Sons of Easley. She was predeceased by her parents; six sisters, Leola Lesley, Dorsey Messer, Lucille Stewart, Lila Mae Bates, Velma Stubbs and Verlin Ann Connley; and three brothers, Odell Patterson, Ray Patterson and Donald Patterson.

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 14, at 3 p.m. at Rice’s Creek Baptist Church, 504 Rices Creek Church Road, Liberty SC 29657.

Clyde Cephus Pinyon

Easley — Clyde Cephus Pinyon 73, of Easley, husband of the late Sara Pinyon, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, June 8, 2017.

Born in Pickens County, SC, he was the son of the late Clyde James and Louannie Morton Pinyon.

Surviving is his son; James Pinyon (Tina Gilstrap) and a daughter Sharon Pinyon; and four grandchildren, Josh Pinyon, Dylan Pinyon, Haley Pinyon, and Samantha Pinyon.

Mr. Pinyon was predeceased by his wife, parents, and a son, Cephus “Rusty” Pinyon.

A Memorial Service was held on Tuesday, June 13, at the Dillard Funeral Home.

Patricia Gaskin Hendricks

Easley — Patricia Gaskin Hendricks, 79, of Easley, the wife of Parker Sherman Hendricks, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 5, 2017.

Born in Richland County, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Raymond E. and Addie Coker Gaskin.

Surviving are her six sons; Allen Hendricks (Miriam), Tallie Hendricks (Cindy), Robert Hendricks, Jock Hendricks (Tammy), Raymond Hendricks, and Michael Hendricks (Tina); five daughters, Lyle Jacks (Barry), Melissa Hendricks, Cindy Benson (David), Betsy Hendricks, and Louise Lesley; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Mrs. Hendricks was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband, a son, Shane Hendricks, and one brother, Benjamin Gaskin.

She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and the Ida Looper Sunday School Class.

A Graveside service will be held on Friday, June 16 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens in Pickens, South Carolina.

Shelby Jean Mealor

Easley — Shelby Jean Bagwell Mealor, 77, wife of Verlon T. Mealor, went home to be with her Lord on Monday June 12, 2017.

Shelby was born in Pickens, daughter of the late James Clyde and Melonee Clark Bagwell. She was retired from Wagner Systems in Greenville and was a member of Glassy Mountain View Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 26 years, Verlon T. Mealor, daughters Cathy Ann Vines (Ronald) of Greenville and Linda Jean Harrison (Brian) of Greer, step daughters Teri Garrett (Roger) and Tami Looper (Keith) all of Liberty and Tonya Perritt (Jim) of Manning, SC, 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Shelby was preceded in death by her son, William Gregory Chappell and brother, James Hoyt Bagwell.

The family will receive friends on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Dillard Funeral Home from 2 to 3:15 p.m.and funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 3:30 p.m. . Burial will be at Hillcrest memorial Park and Gardens.
