Bradley Charles Coleman

Liberty — Bradley Charles Coleman, 57, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Aug. 6, 2017, at Capstone Rehab. Mr. Coleman was born in Easley, son of Blonnie Winona Sentell Coleman and Franklin Calvin Coleman of the home. He loved Elvis, people and music.

Survivors include parents, two brothers, Andy Coleman (Sherry) of Liberty and Glen Morton of Easley; special cousin Teresa Moore of Central; four nephews, Jake Coleman, Jonah Coleman, Jordan Coleman and Jaron Collins; one niece, Jordan Collins; grandparents, Willard P. and Bederea (Tomzy) Coleman and Hurstel Sentell and Grace Martin Sentell.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Aug. 9, from 11:30 a.m to 12:45 p.m. at Mountain View Funeral Home, with funeral service to follow in the chapel at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

The family will be at the home.

James H. Holcombe

Pickens — James Horace Holcombe went to be with his Savior on Monday, July 17, 2017.

Horace was born June 27, 1933, at the home of his parents, Rev. and Mrs. Carl S. Holcombe. He grew up in the Eastatoee and Jocassee Valley communities. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1953, and served two tours in the Vietnam War. He was awarded numerous medals, but most cherished his Distinguished Flying Cross. He retired from the Air Force in 1973 as a flight engineer on C-130 aircraft. After retiring, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping with his children and grandchildren. He was a member of American Legion Post 11 in Pickens.

Horace was a believer and proclaimer of God’s word, and an active member of Antioch Baptist Church where he served as a former deacon, treasurer, and custodian. He loved his church family.

He is survived by his loving spouse of 61 years, Mary Lois Ellenburg Holcombe; children, Janice Garrison (Alan) of Pickens and Jimmy Holcombe (Sahar) of Summerville; grandchildren, Erin Bolde, Brett Garrison (Lauren) and Aisha Holcombe; great-grandchildren, Ava Garrison and Lily Garrison; step-granddaughter, Corrin Donahue, and step-great-granddaughter, Ellie Donahue; brothers, Cecil Holcombe (Beverly), Mike Holcombe (Mary), and Dan Holcombe (Carol); and many loving nieces and nephews. Horace was predeceased by his sister, Hazel Morgan.

The family received friends July 19 at Dillard Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at in the chapel.

Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Medlin Crumbaker

Easley — Chris Crumbaker, 32, passed away Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017.

A visitation was held on Aug. 7 at Mountain View Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service in the chapel.

Patsy Greene

Gaffney — Patsy Patterson Greene, 83, formerly of 221 Maple Drive, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2017, at Peachtree Centre.

Born in Liberty, she was first married to the late Melvin Henry Searcy, then to the late James Arnold Wells and was the widow of the late Ernest Harold Greene.

She retired from retail management working at United Five and Ten and Eleanor Shops and was a member of Providence Baptist Church, where she was a former Sunday school teacher, Bible school teacher and youth leader. She was a member emeritus of the Order of Eastern Star, Canaveral Chapter and former member of The Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem, Ladies’ Oriental Shrine of North America Inc., Daughters of the Nile and Daughters of the American Revolution.

Surviving are two daughters, Jill Searcy Bramlett and husband, Craig, of Gaffney and Jane Searcy Doherty of Myrtle Beach; a sister, Hazel Patterson Andrews of Lincolnton, N.C.; four grandchildren, Alanda K. Travis and husband, Karl, of Myrtle Beach, Alexis K. Foster and husband, Erik, Cameron V. Bramlett, and Courtney R. Bramlett, all of Gaffney; a great-grandchild, Zander Foster; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph Patterson, Robert Patterson and Dewey Patterson, and four sisters, Alice Patterson, Irene Patterson Owens, Mary Patterson Watson and Frances Patterson Summey.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, at Blakely Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2 p.m. in the Blakely Funeral Home chapel, with Dr. Scott Peterson officiating. Interment will be in Frederick Memorial Gardens.

The family will be at the home of Craig and Jill Bramlett, 320 Pleasant Meadows Drive, Gaffney.

Leeroy Bentley

Pickens — LeeRoy Bentley, 72, husband of Judy Louise Edwards Bentley, went to be with the Lord Monday, July 31, 2017, at St Francis Hospital.

Mr. Bentley was born in Greenville County, son of the late Mae Elizabeth Lesley Bentley and John Elzie Bentley.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years; one daughter, Leshia Jennings of Pickens; two sons, Chad Bentley (Holly) of Pickens and Chase Bentley (Jennifer) of Pickens; one sister, Sonia Medlin (Billy) of Pickens; two brothers, Clarence Bentley and Lewis Bentley, both of Rosman, N.C.; six grandchildren, Taylor Hayes (Bryan), Lane Jennings, Bentley Jennings, Gavin Martin, Ever Bentley and Choice Bentley; and one great-grandchild, Elzie Hayes, all of Pickens.

Mr. Bentley was predeceased by his parents; one son, Lee Roy Bentley; two sisters, Dorothy Howard and Wanda Whitlock; and two brothers, Kenneth Bentley and Ray Bentley.

Graveside service was Aug. 3 at Mountain Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Danny Michael Holder

Marietta — Danny Michael Holder, 66, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, Aug. 1, 2017, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Holder was retired and born in Pickens County, son of the late Lillie Mae Ray Holder and Sloan Holder.

Survivors include two brothers, Ray Holder of Pickens and Roger Holder (Donna) of Cleveland; two daughters, Kristy Stephens (Bart) and Cheyenne Chambers of Pickens; two grandchildren, Gray and Morgan; nine nieces, Jennifer Sexton, Landyn Gilbert, Natalie Holder, Arianna Holder, Destiny Holder, Bella Holder, Brenna Holder, Sarah Breedlove, Lillie Breedlove and Jessica Breedlove; and 10 nephews, Daniel Holder, James Holder, Jason Holder, Brad Holder, Will Holder, Aidan Holder, Michael Altop, Christian Altop, Dylan Gilbert and Daniel Breedlove.

Graveside services were held Aug. 4 at Oolenoy Baptist Church Cemetery. Mr. Holder was predeceased by his parents and one sister, Rita Dodgens.

Jerry Walter Kelley

Pickens — Jerry Walter Kelley, 86, beloved husband of Esther Winchester Kelley, died Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2017.

Son of the late Walter D. and Beulah Kelley, Mr. Kelley was born on May 23, 1931, and grew up in the Red Hill community. He loved the land and its people. He was retired as a plumber and electrician and was known for his sweet spirit and for his willingness to help others at any time and for any reason. He was a man whose handshake was his word, and his calling card was his integrity. Excellence was a hallmark of every job he performed.

He was a devoted family man and was a loving father and grandfather. He was a gentle man who spoke more by his example than he ever said with his words. He loved simple things — a job well done, time with his family and a good steak cooked to perfection. Mr. Kelley cherished his relationship with his Lord and Savior and he truly exemplified the servant attitude with everyone he encountered and in all his actions. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church where he was a member of the Men’s Club and served as a roadie with the Grace Bell Choir.

In addition to his wife of the home, Mr. Kelley is survived by four daughters, Carolyn Holder (Steve) of Lilburn, Ga.; Joyce Gillespie (Tommy), Marie Finley (Chuck) and Frances Stewart (Phil), all of Pickens; a brother, Harold Kelley of Pickens; 10 grandchildren, Kelley Reid (Tim), Nikki Culbertson (Matt), Matthew Holder (Shilo), Heather Simmons (Lance), Cherie Yarborough (Clint), Meghan Knapp (Eric), Carly Fitzpatrick (Kason), Tiffany, Sabrina and Sarah Stewart; and 17 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Kelley was also predeceased by a sister, Edna Gravely, and a grandson, Samuel Stewart.

Funeral services were held Aug. 6, at Grace United Methodist Church. Burial followed at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Inez R. Smith

Easley — Mrs. Inez Reid Smith, 94, wife of the late Lloyd Furman Smith, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2017, at her home.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late James Lewis and Dovie Morgan Reid, and her step-mother, Bertha Spearman Reid, Inez started her career working with the Firestone Mill during WWII. Mrs. Smith retired from Alice Manufacturing and in her early years of employment she donated a weeks pay to help fund the building of the original Easley Hospital. She attended Pendleton Street Baptist Church.

Surviving are four daughters, Frances Smith (John) of Pickens, Darlene Alexander (Larry) of Easley, Crystal Burton (Hal) of Liberty and Melissa Boyter (Vince Conwell) of Easley; two brothers, James Otis Reid (Judy) of Easley and Cecil Reid (Ruby) of Pickens; eight grandchildren, Rex Chappell, Tina Alexander (Dewayne), Henry Chappell (Lori), Chip McCall (Brittany), Carley McCall, Brent Boyer, Lexie Conwell and Brittnee Boggs (Chris); 11 great-grandchildren, Andrew Alexander, Toni Alexander, Teddi Alexander, Anni Alexander, Stephanie Chappell, Carson Chappell. C.J. McCall, Carter McCall, Gracie Lynn George, Jordan Boyter and Kennedy Boggs; two great-great-grandchildren, Chevelle Holliday and Colt Holliday; and two special nieces, Nancy Willis Albert and Katie Willis Clardy.

In addition to her husband, parents and stepmother, Mrs. Smith was predeceased by a brother, J.D. Reid; a sister, Viola Willis; and three sons-in-law, Claude Chappell, Lonnie Burton and Brian Boyter.

Graveside services were held July 22 at the Porter’s Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Ronald H. Hood

Pickens — Ronald Hampton Hood, 73, passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017, at his home.

Born in Chester County, on Oct. 7, 1943, he was the son of the late Hampton Hay and Lucy Vinson Hood. He was a member of East Pickens Baptist Church and was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Mr. Hood loved to read westerns and mysteries, watching sports and enjoyed trips to the lake. He was very peculiar about his coffee — no matter where he went, his coffee always had to be fresh.

Surviving are his wife of 29 years, Joyce Faulk Hood; one son, Mark Hood (Crysti); four stepsons, Mark Roberts (Donna), Billy Roberts (Mary), Todd Roberts (Angela), and Greg Bailey; one brother, Mike Hood (Brenda); one sister, Janice Neal, ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Aug. 3 in the Dillard Funeral Home chapel, with the Rev. Jamie Duncan officiating.

Burial was at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

David Holcombe

Easley — Mr. William David Holcombe, 63, husband of Claudia Byrd Holcombe, passed away Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Edward William and Bessie Mae Edens Holcombe, Mr. Holcombe was the retired owner and operator of Holcombe Septic Tank Company, Inc. and was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 43 years, are three daughters, Jennifer H. Anderson (John), Stephanie Holcombe, and Danielle Holcombe, all of Easley; a sister, Holley H. Gorrell (George) of Taylors; and four grandchildren, Alex and Savannah Anderson, Tyler Crooks and Austin Holcombe. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holcombe was predeceased by a brother, James E. Holcombe.

The family hosted a memorial service Aug. 8 at Easley First United Methodist Church.

Sandra C. Nalley

Easley — Mrs. Sandra Cassell Nalley, 73, wife of Hubert Wayne Nalley went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Arthur Edward and Lois Elizabeth Bowen Cassell, Mrs. Nalley was a 1962 graduate of Easley High School and retired from Alice Manufacturing Company with 30 years of service. She was a member of Blue Ridge View Baptist Church.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of 55 years, are a son, Brad Nalley (Rhonda) of Pickens; a daughter, Kim N. Rogers (Tony) of Pickens; a brother, Michael E. Cassell (Becky) of Easley; four grandchildren, Dakota Rogers, Savannah Nalley, Alicia Mahon and Amber Nalley; and two great-grandchildren, Madison Waldrop and Abigail Mahon.

Funeral services were held Aug. 8 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Pauline Daves Jones Carroll

Pickens — Pauline Daves Jones Carroll, 98, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017, at her home.

Pauline was born in Pickens on Dec. 8, 1918, to the late Hayes H. and Minnie Nelson Daves.

She was retired from the textile mills as a machine operator, and her retirement was spent sewing quilts that she gave family members as gifts. Pauline was a strong and independent woman living in her own home until her last day. Pauline raised three loving sons who were taught how to take care of their families. She was predeceased by her son, Daniel, and her daughter, Betty Jane.

Surviving are her sons Elbert “Cadillac” Jones (Ruth) and Lewis Jones (Vivian); 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Aug. 4 at Dillard Funeral Home chapel. The Rev. Phillip Jewel officiated the service.

Bobby Eugene Lovvorn

Pickens — Bobby Eugene Lovvorn, 59, husband of the late Lisa McCollum Lovvorn, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Aug. 5, 2017, in Easley.

Mr. Lovvorn was born in Athens, Ga., son of the late Tavie Geneva Martin Lovvorn and James Houston Lovvorn.

Survivors include children, Chad Houston Lovvorn, Krissy Goodman McMahan (Jamey) and Triplet Sons, Andra Gooch (Calvin) of Georgia, Shirley Tanner (Jerry) of Easley, Howard Laws of Florida, Jenny Bridger (Dave) of Florida, five grandchildren and loved by nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held on Aug. 8 in the Rock Springs Baptist Church Sanctuary.

Mr. Lovvorn was predeceased by his wife, parents and brother, Joel Glosson.
