Preseason football starts this week

COUNTY — All four Pickens County high schools got started with football practice last Friday, and the teams are already ready to hit a jersey of another color, as scrimmages with other teams begin this week.
Thursday, Aug. 2, Easley and Liberty will get their preseason scrimmage schedules under way, as the Green Wave head to Chapman for a morning scrimmage and the Red Devils host West-Oak for a 7 p.m. scrimmage.
The following day, Daniel and Pickens will get in their first action against unfamiliar opponents. The Lions will scrimmage against J.L. Mann, while the Blue Flame will travel to Wade Hampton for a 6 p.m. scrimmage.
Easley will be back on the road Saturday, Aug. 4, as it heads to Clover for a morning scrimmage. On Tuesday, Aug. 7, Pickens will host Ninety Six on for a 6 p.m. scrimmage, and Easley will once again hit the road, traveling to take on Berea and Palmetto, while Daniel will play host to Asheville the next day.
The first jamboree scheduled in the county will be the Easley Jamboree, set for Thursday, Aug. 9. The jamboree, starting at 6 p.m., will feature Pickens vs. Woodmont, Liberty vs. Rosman and Easley vs. Travelers Rest.
The following night, the Green Wave will travel to powerhouse Gaffney for a game simulation scrimmage, while Pickens will host its annual jamboree. Confirmed matchups for the Blue Flame Jamboree are Liberty vs. West-Oak at 6 p.m. and Daniel vs. Pickens.
As the Blue Flame and Green Wave square off in the annual Sam Wyche Meals on Wheels Food Fight Bowl to start the regular season in week zero on August 17, Daniel will hold its annual Daniel Day Jamboree at Liberty High School. The jamboree starts at 6:30 p.m. with Woodmont vs. Walhalla, followed by Christ Church vs. Liberty at 7:30 p.m. and the Lions taking on AAAA power Dorman in the nightcap at 8:30 p.m.
