LIBERTY — Longtime Liberty resident and business owner Brian Petersen declared his candidacy for mayor this fall.

Petersen is a current member of Liberty City Council and seeks to win the mayoral seat Nov 7.

“I am pleased and honored to be running for mayor of Liberty,” he said. “During my tenure as city councilman, I have gained an understanding of the many complexities of city government, including its capabilities and limitations.

“There are many issues and opportunities the city will face in the next four years, including aging water and sewer infrastructure, attracting new businesses and jobs, just to name a few. Most importantly, we need to strengthen our community foundation with total transparency and open lines of communication with our citizens.”
