• Nix family reunion planned for June 3
Descendants of Ulysses and Lou Annie Monroe Nix will meet Sunday, June 3, at 1 p.m. at Northside Baptist Church, located at 421 Sangamo Road in Pickens. Plates, cups and ice will be furnished. Please bring covered dishes, desserts and drinks.
• PHS Class of 1968 to hold 50th reunion
Invitations to the Pickens High School Class of 1968 50th reunion were mailed on April 1. Call (864) 878-1355 or email PHSclassof68@aol.com if you have not received your invitation. The event is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 16, at the Lighthouse in Seneca.
• Liberty Spring Fest to be held May 26
The Liberty festivals and events committee and the city of Liberty recently announced the upcoming Celebrate Liberty Spring Festival and the kick-off of Music in the Park. The Celebrate Liberty Spring Festival is set for Saturday, May 26, from noon-7 p.m. in downtown Liberty. A Memorial Weekend Honor Ride is scheduled as part of the festival.
The ride benefits the local chapter of Upstate Warrior Solutions and will take place with the start and final stop in downtown Liberty.
This year’s festival will offer a wide variety of activities for the whole family — arts, crafts, children’s activities, dunking booth, silent auction, displays from nonprofit organizations, food, music and entertainment.
A cruise-in is planned from noon-3 p.m. Registration for the Memorial Weekend Honor Ride starts at 11 a.m., with the first bike out at noon.
The main stage will have local talent, as well as a special Memorial Day presentation. Sponsors and vendors are still being accepted. Find out more information at libertyscevents.com.
• Reese reunion set for Sunday, May 27
The descendants of John and Ada Cantrell Reese will meet for their annual family reunion on May 27. The reunion will be held Mountain Grove Baptist Church, located at 644 E Preston McDaniel Road in Pickens, with dinner starting at 1 p.m.
Cups, plates, ice and utensils will be provided. Everyone is asked to bring a well-filled basket and enjoy fellowship.
• Pickens High Class of 1978 to reunite
The Pickens High School graduating class of 1978 will hold its 40th class reunion on Saturday, June 2. The event will be held at Larry Looper’s barn beginning at 6 p.m. The cost is $25 per person ($50 per couple), and payments may be sent to PHS Class of 1978, PO Box 997, Pickens, SC 29671.
