Frances Turner Wimpey

PICKENS — Mrs. Frances Turner Wimpey, 91, of Pickens and widow of the late Grady Horace Wimpey, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, Sept. 17, 2018, at Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.

Born on Sept. 27, 1926, in Pickens County, she was the daughter of the late Elford and Pearl Scruggs Turner. She was a member of Three and Twenty Baptist Church and enjoyed gardening and quilting. Mrs. Wimpey was a caring person with a sense of humor. She worked as a private care nurse’s aide for several years and loved her family.

Surviving are her six children, Carolyn Simmons, Tommy G. Wimpey (Kathy), Steve W. Wimpey (Vickie), Ricky G. Wimpey (Marie), Richard H. Wimpey and Kenneth M. Wimpey (Michelle); one brother, Junior Turner (Lisa); 17 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wimpey was also predeceased by one son, Edward Horace Wimpey; one granddaughter, Tammy Wimpey; and seven siblings.

Funeral services were held Sept. 20 in the Dillard Funeral Home chapel, with her grandson, Rev. Brandon Wimpey, officiating, followed by burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

Jo-Ann W. Moore

PICKENS — Jo-Ann Wilbanks Moore, 62, of Pickens Drive, passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at her home.

Born in Brunswick County, N.C., she was a daughter of the late Jim and Lula Mae Benton Wilbanks.

Jo-Ann was formerly employed with Walmart in Greenville and Tennessee. She was a substitute teacher for the School District of Pickens County and enjoyed reading, especially Harry Potter books, and also enjoyed spending time on Facebook.

Surviving are her husband, Roderick A. “Rick” Moore of the home; daughters, Tina Moore and Tammy Wilson (Ashley); grandchildren, Darrian Mitchell (Allie Lofink) and Austin Moore (Mechelle Willard); great-grandchildren, Crimson Moore and Lei Moore; and a sister, Brenda Gale Stephens.

Services were held Sept. 14 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

Rick Riddle

PICKENS — Mr. Richard Leon “Rick” Riddle, 65, husband of Janice Lindley “Jan” Riddle, passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018.

Born in Pickens, a son of the late Alvin Jack Riddle and the late Willis Ferguson Riddle, Mr. Riddle was the retired owner and operator of Rick’s Pool Service and of the Baptist faith. Rick loved his family, and especially loved to watch his grandchildren race.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 48 years, are a daughter, Joyce Elaine Riddle of Landrum; a son, Jason Leon Riddle of Pickens; a brother, Fred Riddle of Pickens; a sister, Liz Trotter of Pickens; four grandchildren, Tyler Riddle, Brayson Riddle, Brody Johnson and Jonathan Johnson; and a great-grandchild, Jaxton Riddle.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Riddle was predeceased by two brothers, Junior and Johnny Riddle; a sister, Edith Riddle; and a great-grandchild, Ki’lee Rose Riddle.

Graveside services were held Sept. 22 at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Baptist Easley Hospital for the love and care they have provided for Mr. Riddle.

Margaret Taylor

LIBERTY — Margaret Bennett Taylor, 93, formerly of Summit Drive in Liberty, passed away peacefully Friday, Sept. 21, 2018 at Clemson Downs.

Born in Union County, she was the widow of William Marion Taylor and the daughter of the late James Madison and Louise Hembree Bennett. Mrs. Taylor was a graduate of Presbyterian College. She retired from the School District of Pickens County and was the Pickens County Teacher of the Year in 1976. She was member of the Delta Kappa Gamma teacher’s sorority and was a member of the Liberty Women’s Club, where she had served as president. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, but most of all she enjoyed her family. She was a longtime member of Liberty First Baptist Church, where she served in many capacities.

Surviving are two daughters, Ann T. Bailey of Liberty and Jane T. Sargent (Phil) of Anderson; three sons, Jim Taylor of Charlotte, David Taylor (Sheila) of Sharpsburg, Ga., and Allen Taylor (Connie) of Liberty; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two brothers, W.C. and Hays Bennett; a son-in-law, Hugh T. Bailey Sr.; a grandson, Vance Marion Bailey; and an infant son.

Funeral services for Mrs. Taylor were held Sept. 23 at Liberty First Baptist Church. Private burial will be held at Liberty Memorial Gardens.

Shirley Marie Haire Ficklin

EASLEY — Shirley Marie Haire Ficklin, 55, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018.

She was born May 12, 1963, in Greenville to the late Lloyd and Lily Goldsmith Smith.

She was preceded in death by a son, William Kyle Ficklin, and a brother, Jimmy Smith.

She is survived by her husband, Everett Ficklin; son, Jason Lamar Rusty Smith; daughters, Jennifer Steen, Heather Smith and Kayla Cutshall; sisters, Lola M. Smith and Johnnie Shipman; and 11 grandchildren.

Services were held Sept. 23 at Corinth Baptist Church in Easley, with Danny Burnlee officiating and burial following in the Corinth Baptist Church cemetery in Easley.

Florence M. McCollum

EASLEY — Florence Bernice McCue McCollum, 88, of Southway Street, wife of Edwin McCollum, passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2018.

Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late Richard McCue and Ola Mae Crawford McCue.

Mrs. McCollum was formerly employed with Saco-Lowell and was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, camping and fishing.

Surviving, in addition to her husband of 70 years, are her sons, Roger McCollum (Dana) of Huber Heights, Ohio, and Benny McCollum (Martha) and David McCollum (Alan Ream), all of Easley; grandchildren, Jordan McCollum (Holly), Justin McCollum (Krissy), Jason McCollum (Gypsi), Meredith McCollum and Rebecca Murray (Matt); and great-grandchildren, Conner, Jake, Liam, Everett, Aubrie and Zayda McCollum and Declan Murray.

Mrs. McCollum was predeceased by her parents and 10 siblings.

Funeral services were held Sept. 25 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road, with entombment following in the Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum of Robinson Memorial Gardens.

Rev. Wilbur A. Key

EASLEY — Rev. Wilbur Augusta Key, 77, of Ballentine Street, loving husband of Shirley Jewell Duncan Key, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at his home.

Born in Evansville, Ind., he was a son of the late Rev. Uen Augusta Key and Eva Mae Schnell Key.

Rev. Key was a graduate of Southern Wesleyan University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in religion. His pastoral career spanned from 1977 to the present, having pastored churches in Florence, North Charleston, Whitmire and locally, Hilltop Wesleyan Church (Smith Chapel) in Liberty and Horton Memorial and Fountain Inn Wesleyan Church. He was a member of the S.C. District of the Wesleyan Church, previously served on the Board of Visitors at Southern Wesleyan University, a member of the Darlington Jaycees, and was a member of the Lions Club for 48 years, serving as president and vice president.

Rev. Key was predeceased by his stepmother, Reland Elam Key.

Surviving, in addition to his wife of 56 years, are his children, Scott Key (Karen) of Easley, Ben Key (Jodi) of Taylors and Phyllis Singleton (Scott) of Easley; grandchildren, Nicholas, Emily, Britni, Benjamin and Briana Key, and Savannah, Hunter and Sailor Singleton; great-grandchildren, Hudson and Finley; and a brother, Paul Key (Diane) of Cullman, Ala.

Funeral services were held Sept. 25 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with burial following at Hilltop Wesleyan Church in Liberty.

Larry Leon Barkley

PICKENS — Larry Leon Barkley, 66, passed from this life on Sept. 21, 2018.

Born in Pickens County, he was a son of the late Thurston Leon and Annie Lee Barkley.

Survivors include his daughter, Buffy (John) Watson of Pickens; grandchildren, Brody and Bryce Watson; sister, Cheryl (Stan) Watson; brother, Tim Barkley; special friend, Nancy Edwards; special caregiver Kerry Cole; and many other friends.

Mr. Barkley was predeceased by his parents and one brother, Henry Barkley.

Mr. Barkley was a Mason and a member of the Six Mile Lodge.

Services were held Sept. 25 in the Mountain View Funeral Home chapel.

Kimberly Dunn Childs

SENECA — Kimberly Dunn Childs, of 205 Snow Creek Church Road, Seneca, 47, wife of Lee Childs, passed from this life on Sept. 19, 2018.

Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of Ray (Sandra) Dunn and the late Kay Dunn.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Taylor (Brian) Hayes and their daughter, Elzie; a son, Daniel Leopard; stepdaughter, Avery Childs; a sister, Terri (Brian) Anthony and their children, Weston, Coleman and Gage Anthony; and a sister, Jenny (Tracy) Hostetler and their daughters, Megan, Gracie, Kamryn and Presley.

Kimberly was predeceased by her mother.

Funeral services were held Sept. 24 in the Mountain View Funeral Home chapel.

Robert Wood

PICKENS — Robert James Wood, 75, husband of Patsy Gilstrap Wood, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018.

Robert was born in Lynn, Mass., son of the late Marion Albert and Laureen Tillman Wood. He was retired from Duke Energy in the construction department after more than 25 years of service. He was a member of Landmark Baptist Church. Robert will be remembered for his warm smile and big personality and his love of his wife and family.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Patsy Wood, daughters, Debbie Wood Henderson (Mark) of Easley and Greta Wood Corn of Pickens, and son Eric Wood of Pickens. Grandchildren include Robby Horn, Pattie Horn Fore, Jamie Kirby, Mark Henderson Jr., Bryan Henderson, Lewis Corn and Jimmy Corn. Also surviving are eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Landmark Baptist Church, with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Calvin Earlie Bagwell

PICKENS — Calvin Earlie Bagwell, 96, of Tabor Woods Road, Pickens, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Richard Campbell Veterans Nursing Home.

He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was the son of the late Forrest Lee Bagwell and Hazel Atkins Bagwell O’Neal. He was a U.S. Army WWII veteran who served in the 94th Infantry Division. Earlie was a great athlete in baseball and golf and was a member of Tabor United Methodist Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Linda B. Rembert; one son, Douglas Earl Bagwell; one granddaughter, Monica York and husband Dave (deceased); two great-granddaughters; one step-granddaughter and one step-grandson and their children; and one half-sister and her husband and three nieces.

A graveside service was held Sept. 25 at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens, with the Rev. Roger Gwinn officiating.

Tilda “Til” Lowe

EASLEY — Kathy Tilda “Til” Lowe, 67, of Court Drive, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018.

Born in Hendersonville, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Martha Bowers Haney.

Til was a homemaker and attended New Life Baptist Church in Greenville. The enjoyment in her life were her grandchildren.

Surviving are her husband, Charles “Todd” Lowe of the home; a daughter, Che’ Lowe Varela (Roger) of Easley; grandchildren, Kynlee Gore, Landon Gore, Ethen Varela and Haylee Varela; a brother, Kenny Haney of Philadelphia, Miss.; and sisters, Lou Ellen Cash of Fayetteville, Ga., and Wanda Haney of Philadelphia, Miss.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by brothers, George, Sammy and Danny Haney; and sisters, Frances Lea and Doris Haney.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 12:30-1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Geraldine H. Raxter

EASLEY — Geraldine Hendricks Raxter, 93, of 178 Cribbs Way, wife of the late Jethro A. Raxter, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018, at Baptist Easley Hospital.

Born in Transylvania County, N.C., Mrs. Raxter was the daughter of the late George W. and Estelle Hubbard Hendricks. She graduated from Rosman High School, and she retired from Swirl Manufacturing after 27 years of service. Mrs. Raxter was a member of Nine Forks Baptist Church and was a talented artist, with multiple drawings and painting displayed throughout Pickens and Transylvania counties.

Surviving are a son, Charles Raxter (Angee) of Easley; a daughter, Gail O’Shields (Jerry) of Liberty; four grandchildren, Tracey Allison (Terry), Jessica Partridge (Michael), Chance Raxter and Chelsea Raxter; and four great-grandchildren, Azure Allison, Lyric Allison, Landon Partridge and Bren Partridge.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Nine Forks Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30-1:45 p.m. at the church.

Cleve Ann S. Senn

CLEMSON — Cleve Ann “Teebie” Screws Senn, 72, widow of Richard A. “Dickie” Senn, passed away, Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at AnMed Health.

Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late Cleveland James and Roseanne Payne Screws. She was a graduate of Girls High in Anderson and was an administrative assistant at Clemson University for more than 30 years. She was a member of Clemson United Methodist Church. Cleve Ann enjoyed her time with family and playing canasta and bridge in various groups. She also enjoyed social time with the Miriam Circle of her church and her work group, the “Wildflowers.”

Surviving are her son, Richard A. “Richie” Senn Jr. (Ann) of Walhalla; sister, Julie Hawkins (Walter) of Six Mile; brother-in-law, David Senn (Molly) of Clemson; grandchildren, Trevor and Emma Senn; step-grandchildren, Brianna Miller and Alison Smith; great-grandchildren, Nora and Nellie Miller; and a special cousin, Sara Lou Kelly Palmer.

In addition to her husband and parents, Cleve Ann was predeceased by a son, Marcus Matthew Senn; her father and mother-in-law, T.L. and Reet Busby Senn; a brother-in-law, Tommy Senn; and a special aunt, Sara Payne Kelly.

Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 30, at Clemson United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.

Terry W. Tinsley

EASLEY — Terry Wyatt Tinsley, 66, of Easley, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2018.

Born in Greenville County, he was a son of the late Ellison and Naomi Weaver Tinsley.

Terry was a 1971 graduate of Easley High School and member of Park Street Baptist Church. He was retired as owner and operator of Terry’s Body Shop. He loved his family and NASCAR and enjoyed farming, and in his earlier years, striper fishing, hunting, drag racing and go-cart racing.

Surviving are his children, Jill Tinsley Burnett (Tony) and Jeff Tinsley (Bridgette), all of Easley; grandchildren, Ellison Brooke “Elli” Burnett and Noah Thomas Burnett; a brother, Mike Tinsley of Easley; and several nieces and nephews who were very special to Terry.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Donnie Tinsley and his twin, Jerry Tinsley.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 26, in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown, with burial to follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends prior to the service on Wednesday from 2-3:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Flowers will be accepted.

The family will be at the home of his daughter, Jill Burnett.
